The newly-released McDonald’s Grinch meal in Canada has become the object of envy of American fans of the fast food restaurant chain. The holiday season-inspired meal has been exclusively available in Canada since December 3, 2024.
However, the McDonald’s Grinch meal has not reached American markets yet, leaving fans disappointed over missing out on the festive items. Several customers took to social media to express their anger over the lack of Grinch-themed meals on the menu at US locations.
On December 4, 2024, one X user called out McDonald's over their decision to not make the Grinch meal available stateside.
"The mcdonald's grinch meal only being available in canada is a hate crime."
"I need this in the US ASAP," another user wrote.
"How they get this in Canada Mcdonalds but not here in the USA. The Grinch stole Christmas & gave it to Canada," someone joked.
"Look what Canada has for Christmas. America is so boring and duddy." A user expressed frustration.
Everything to know about the McDonald’s Grinch meal in Canada
The McDonald's Grinch meal was launched in Canada in time for the 2024 holiday season as a limited-time holiday combo meal.
The McDonald’s Grinch meal includes one Big Mac (customer’s choice) along with either a McChicken sandwich or 10-piece McNuggets. It also includes Dill Pickle McShaker Fries, a medium drink, and a pair of mismatched Grinch socks.
Moreover, the festive menu also includes Frozen Hot Chocolate McFlurry with vanilla soft serve mixed with cocoa powder and mini marshmallows. Other items on the menu include green heart-shaped cookies coated with festive green candy, the McDonald’s Grinch-themed Happy Meal for kids with plush toys and matching games, and Grinch-themed cup designs for hot beverages.
The McDonald’s Grinch meal is also available in the UK
The Grinch-themed festive offering was first launched in the United Kingdom and Ireland on November 20, 2024, with the Grinch Happy Meal. During the launch, McDonald's said in a press release that the meal will come with festive collectibles:
"From 20th November to 31st December, the Grinch will be making his way to McDonald’s Happy Meal. Each limited-edition Happy Meal will come with one of eight Grinch and friends toys, featuring adorable plush Christmas decorations and Grinch family card games or the exclusive ‘Twelve Days of Grinchmas’ tale."
The Grinch-themed Happy Meal is inspired by the beloved holiday character. It comes in a festive green packaging box and includes collectible items, such as a picture of Santa's hat. Customers can also enjoy other festive treats like Terry’s Chocolate Orange McFlurry and Cheese Melt Dippers at all outlets in Ireland and the United Kingdom.
The McDonald’s Grinch meal should reach American outlets in the coming days if past trends are anything to go by. In the past, other exclusive items like the Chicken Big Mac and McPlant Burger were launched in Europe before reaching the US markets.
American fans are not lovin’ the delay and have slammed McDonald’s on social media, with some even threatening to boycott the popular restaurant chain altogether during the Christmas season. They have expressed frustration at being overlooked during the holiday season, with one customer pointing out that America "never gets this cool stuffs!!"
Nevertheless, Americans eagerly await the arrival of a Grinch-themed meal in US markets. McDonald's has made no such announcement as of this writing. So far, US customers have had to suffice with Holiday Pie, the McRib, and holiday-themed McCafe x Doodles cups for hot beverages.
