Tobey Maguire's ex-wife, Jennifer Meyer, has come to his defense as rumors of the actor dating model Lily Chee spread. Speculations began when the Spider-Man star was spotted leaving Fanatic founder and CEO Michael Rubin's annual Fourth of July celebration with Chee.

In particular, fans slammed Maguire, 49, for dating someone almost 30 years younger. They even took to questioning Meyer about the rumors.

On Sunday, July 7, 2024, Reddit user u/FirmTemperature3131 shared a post on the thread r/Fauxmoi with screenshots of a conversation between Meyer and an Instagram user asking her about Tobey Maguire's dating life.

IG user @hkello3 asked Jennifer:

Prompting the jewelry designer to reply:

"I don't usually respond to such nonsense, but he was kindly helping a friend to her car. being a good guy. And now he has blasted online for dating someone he is not. but thank you for your rude comment, I hope it made you feel better today. Wishing you love and light."

Jennifer Meyer slams rumors, says Tobey Maguire is "as good of a guy as it gets"

Following Jennifer Meyer's reply, user @hkello3 pointed out that in the photos about Tobey Maguire and Lily Chee that were circulating, the actor's hand was on the small of her back. They argued that "his friends have a reputation to pray (sic) on barely legal girls," referring to Maguire's good friend, Leonardo DiCaprio, who is notorious for dating younger women.

They rhetorically asked the designer:

"What type of friendship does a 20 yearlold girl have with a 49 year old man?"

They continued to ask Meyer why she was defending the Spider-Man actor and his reputation when everyone knows "what happens at these exclusive Hollywood parties." She replied:

"I'm disengaging after this... But don't believe everything you read (I'm sure you were taught that somwhere) Tobey is as good of a guy as it gets."

Tobey Maguire married Jennifer Meyer in 2007, and the couple divorced nine years later. They share two kids: their daughter, Ruby, 17, and their son, Otis, 15. The pair's separation was an amicable one.

During her appearance on The World's First Podcast back in 2022, the jewelry designer told the hosts:
