Hollywood Unlocked Inc to present Jonathan Majors with the Perseverance Award months after his conviction

Jonathan Majors is set for a redemption story in the upcoming 4th annual Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards. The actor is one of the honorees in the Los Angeles event set for Friday, June 21, 2024.

Majors is going to receive a Perseverance Award during the event along with other lineups of honorees from various fields. According to the Hollywood Unlocked announcement:

"The [Preseverance] award is presented to an individual who has shown that no matter what adversity they face, they will continue to aspire to inspire."

For those unversed, the actor was found guilty of harassment and reckless assault in the third degree in December 2023 after he had an altercation with his then-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari.

Jonathan Majors called 911 in March 2023, saying that he found Jabbari unconscious in their apartment. However, when police found injuries on Jabbari after rushing to the scene, which included a bruised and fractured finger and a laceration behind her ear, Majors was quickly arrested for strangulation, assault, and harassment charges.

While the former Marvel star didn't serve jail time for his conviction, a Manhattan criminal court ordered Jonathan Majors to attend an in-person batterer's intervention program for a total of 52 weeks.

Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards named Jonathan Majors, Cardi B, and others as this year's honorees

The Impact Awards is founded by Hollywood Unlocked CEO Jason Lee, and, according to the organization:

"Impact Awards serve as a platform to honor trailblazers in music, film, media, politics, and beyond, with a specific focus on uplifting the Black community."

Aside from Jonathan Majors being honored with a Perseverance Award, the organization will also bring other luminaries into the stage for the June event. Rapper and singer Cardi B will be honored with an Inspiration Award, rapper Fat Joe will receive the Culture Award, and legendary designer Christian Louboutin is slated for an Innovator Award.

Other honorees also include rapper Da Bratt, famous lawyer Ben Crump, and US representative Jasmine Crocket. Meanwhile, Tiffany Haddish will host the star-studded event for a third year in a row.

For Jonathan Majors, recent recognition marks a significant milestone and redemption story. After his arrest, Majors faced backlash and career implications. Known for roles in Marvel's Loki and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, as well as Creed III and the Searchlight/Sundance drama Magazine Dreams, Majors saw his career take a hit.

Following his arrest, he was dropped by Management 360 and The Lede Company, and Disney-owned Searchlight Features removed Magazine Dreams from their release calendar.
