A few days after Clint Eastwood shared the news about his long-term partner, Christina Sandera's passing, her cause of death has been revealed.

The Carmel-by-the-Sea, California native died of a heart attack last Thursday, July 18, according to the statement from the Monterey County Health Department representative shared with the New York Post on Tuesday, July 23.

Based on her death certificate, the immediate cause of her passing was listed as cardiac arrhythmia, a condition wherein the pattern or timing of the heartbeat becomes abnormal or erratic. Another condition that caused Sandera's death was outlined as "atherosclerotic coronary artery disease."

The details of her passing came a few days after the A Fistful of Dollars actor confirmed her death in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter shortly after Sandera's death on Thursday, which was quoted:

"Christina was a lovely, caring woman, and I will miss her very much."

The news was also relayed to the public via the actor's official X account, saying that his longtime companion "passed away at age 61." Sandera was a welcome addition to the actor's blended family and his youngest daughter, Morgan Eastwood, mourned the death of her father's longtime girlfriend in an Instagram Story tribute.

Alongside a photo of her and her husband, Tanner Koopmans, during their nuptials last month where Clint Eastwood and Christina Sandera were also present, she wrote:

"A devastating loss for our family. Thank you Christina for being a good partner to my Dad. You will be greatly missed."

Clint Eastwood and Christina Sandera had been together for a decade before she died

A chance meeting at the Mission Ranch Hotel and Restaurant, the establishment Clint Eastwood owned in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California where Christina Sandera was also working as a hostess, started their romantic relationship.

While the American Sniper actor was still legally married to Dina Eastwood at the time, it wasn't long after that his divorce from his estranged wife was finalized. Eastwood and Sandera made their relationship public, and while they kept much of their romance low profile, they are often seen as each other's dates in red carpet events.

They were famously arm-in-arm during the 87th Academy Awards in 2015 where Eastwood's American Sniper won an Oscar for Sound Editing. The actor was dapper in a classic dark suit and bow tie while Sandera graced the red carpet with a long-sleeved dark blue gown with ruffle details.

She was also Clint Eastwood's leading lady during the 2016 Hollywood premiere of Sully and also supported him for the 2018 premiere of his films The 15:17 to Paris and The Mule.

The longtime couple was last seen gracing the red carpet in November 2019 when they attended the Richard Jewell premiere, which is a crime-thriller that Clint Eastwood directed.
