On December 29, 2024, Gal Gadot revealed on Instagram and other social media platforms that she had developed a massive blood clot in her brain while being pregnant with her fourth daughter Ori, born in March 2024. She underwent emergency surgery in her eighth month of pregnancy in February 2024, after experiencing "excruciating headaches."

"For weeks, I had endured excruciating headaches that confined me to bed, until I finally underwent an MRI that revealed the terrifying truth. In one moment, my family and I were faced with how fragile life can be. It was a stark reminder of how quickly everything can change, and in the midst of a difficult year, all I wanted was to hold on and live."

Gal Gadot underwent surgery for CVT

In her Instagram post, Gal Gadot revealed that she had cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) and was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. She shared that CVT is a rare but serious medical condition that affects "3 in 100,000 pregnant women in the 30s+ age group."

The post featured a picture of the 39-year-old actress breastfeeding her newborn daughter Ori, whose name means 'my light' in Hebrew. Gal went on to tell her 108 million followers that she had fully recovered from the ordeal. She also thanked the medical staff at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles for their service and care during this crucial time in her life.

The Justice League star ended the post by saying that her motivation behind sharing her personal experience was to help other women in similar situations get help at the earliest as CVT is "treatable."

Gal Gadot has been married to the Israeli businessman Jaron Varsano since 2008. Varsano previously worked as a real estate developer and is 10 years older than his wife. The two began dating soon after meeting at a spiritual party in the Israeli desert in 2006. They share 4 daughters together - Alma born in November 2011, Maya born in March 2017, Daniella born in June 2021, and Ori born in March 2024.

While speaking to InStyle Magazine in January 2022, months after welcoming her third child, the Israeli actress shared that she enjoyed the experience of pregnancy by saying:

"I love giving birth. I would do it once a week if I could. It's so magical. I always take epidurals, to be fair, so it's not so painful. Just the moment you feel like you're creating life, it's incredible. But the pregnancies are hard for me — I feel sick and have migraines. I'm not in my element."

Moreover, the couple launched their own film and television production company called Pilot Wave in October 2019.
