As per BBC UK, Jon Landau died at the age of 63, after battling cancer for more than a year. At the same time, his sister, Tina, also confirmed the death of the producer, as she posted an emotional message that read:

"My heart is broken but also bursting with pride & gratitude for his most extraordinary life, and the love and gifts he gave me - and all who knew him or his films.”

Jon was extremely loved in the industry, as he produced not just one, but three record-breaking movies, Titanic, Avatar, and its 2022 sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water. Apart from this, he is also known for his other films like Solaris, which was released in 2002, and Alita: Battle Angel, which was released in 2019.

Furthermore, he also co-produced movies like Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and Dick Tracy, which made their way to the cinema in 1989 and 1990 respectively.

Before his passing away, Jon Landau was involved in the production of the Avatar sequels

While the deceased producer was known for his work in many movies, Variety reported that he had been working hard on the Avatar sequels just before his death. As per the publication, the producer was all set to release three more parts to the franchise, with the fifth one tentatively coming out in 2031.

Jon Landau started his career as an executive vice president of the Twentieth Century Fox and later produced some highest-grossing films. His work brought him many awards and accolades for several films.

His awards include the Florida Film Critics Circle Award, Golden Globe Award, Academy Award, MTV Movie Award, People's Choice Award, Producers Guild of America Awards, and even the Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Award.

Jon held a management position at Lightstorm Entertainment, which later released a statement mourning his death. It read:

"Jon Landau believed in the dream of cinema. He believed that film is the ultimate human art form, and to make films you have to first be human yourself. He will be remembered as much for his vast generosity of spirit as for the movies themselves.”

Talking about his personal life, Jon was married to Julie, and the couple had two kids, Jamie Landau and Jodie Landau. As the iconic producer passed away, social media users and fans are mourning the loss of the global icon.
