In an appearance on an episode of CBS Mornings that aired on Thursday, June 27, 2024, Yellowstone alum Kevin Costner talked about his divorce from Christine Baumgartner. Calling it a “crushing moment,” Kevin Costner said:

“That's a crushing moment. It’s powerful and it hurt.”

He continued by stating how, as a dad, he had no choice but “to move on” with his life “for the sake of his kids.” Kevin Costner also said:

"But I go forward. I have no choice — my children are looking at me. So I can't wilt like a daisy, I have to go forward. I have to continue to be who I am and keep a special eye on who they are."

Kevin and Christine got married in September 2004, after dating for four years. The couple welcomed two sons, born in 2007 and 2009, and a daughter, born in 2010. However, after almost two decades of being married, the couple decided to part ways and filed for divorce in May 2023. Their divorce was finally finalized on February 20, 2024.

As Christine Baumgartner and Kevin Costner filed for separation 18 years after getting married, the couple fought one another in court for months for child custody and support.

As the couple filed for a legal separation, the mother of the kids, Christine, argued that the teens were “used to a lavish lifestyle,” and hence, she should be paid more money for the kids.

However, as per Page Six, the judge in the case ordered that Costner was responsible for paying Christine a sum of $63,209 a month as child support payments; however, this was less than half the amount desired by his estranged wife. As per Hollywood Life, the couple fought for months over things in the house, including silverware.

However, by September 2023, they had settled their divorce and come to a mutual agreement. At the time of their divorce in September 2023, a representative for Kevin Costner spoke to People Magazine to reveal that the duo "have come to an amicable and mutually agreed upon resolution of all issues pertaining to their divorce proceedings."

Thereafter, Kevin also spoke to the publication and talked about his life after his separation. He said:

"You just do it. You just keep talking, you keep coaching the kids, you keep interested in what they're interested in ... I had to.”

Furthermore, before tying the knot with Christine, Kevin Costner was married to Cindy Silva for 16 years. The couple parted ways in 1994. Kevin is the dad of three more kids with Cindy. At the same time, before dating Christine and after parting ways with Cindy, he also dated Bridget Rooney, with whom he shares another son, Liam.
