Lana Wilson’s documentary Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields came out in 2023. The two-part film explored the actress’s life, works, and discovery of power. In the documentary, the actress disclosed a powerful Hollywood personality sexually abused her, whose name she did not reveal. On August 28, People released an interview with the actress and her two daughters Rowan, 21 years old, and Grier, 18.

Reportedly, of her two daughters, only the elder one was aware of the assault. When her younger daughter watched the documentary, it came as a shock to her. However, Brooke Shields told her that there was a happy ending, to which Grier said she would never be fine knowing what had happened to her mother.

“I was learning about things the same time that the world was and I just took it more deeply and personally. I couldn't even get through it,” Grier said.

Brooke Shields was 12 years old when she acted in the 1978 film Pretty Baby. She was born on May 31, 1965. The movie was reportedly deemed controversial back in the day. The actress played the role of a child prostitute named Violet. She appeared in the Diane Rehm Show in 2014, in which she became nostalgic about the time when she did Pretty Baby.

“It was such a beautiful experience. The set was beautiful and what was so interesting about like even just that scene, umm…I was like that little girl. I was not dissimilar to that character. She know that this is what these men did. It sort of breaks my heart hearing that clip because it’s sweet,” Brooke Shields said.

Brooke Shields said she was terrified of being an empty nester

In the People interview, the actress mentioned that her daughters and she had distinct personalities. Grier will start her college at Wake Forest University while Rowan is already a senior. Brooke Shields said she would be terrified to be an empty nester as her younger daughter is about to move out.

“I’m worried about me, just as much as I’m worried about her,” Grier said.

Rowan added,

“Feelings are fraught. I mean I’ve already done it and she was a mess. I think she’s really busy now which is good.”

While talking about her younger sister, Rowan said she was loyal and strong about her opinions. Not only that, but Grier has good judgment of other people's characters. Similarly, Grier thought her elder sister to be spontaneous, and that she had her back. She wished to learn how Rowan never gets stressed by what others think.

Brooke Shields was on the verge of crying after hearing all this. She said both her daughters would have each other’s back as they are tough and possess a strong will. The actress added that although she would stay on the periphery, she is excited to see what is ahead.

Besides being an actress, she is the founder of Commence, a company that deals with hair care products for women mostly over 40.
