Former teen actor Scott Baio offered 2024 presidential candidate Donald Trump debate strategy advice against rival Kamala Harris. On Tuesday, August 6, 2024, Fox News host Jesse Watters brought Baio on his eponymous show to discuss a debate between the two. The actor advocated for Trump and advised,

"I love Trump. I hope he wins because I believe in simple things in our country. Trump... and I'm going to parrot you, Jesse.... Policy, policy, policy. That's it. There's no name calling. There is no making fun of anything."

The actor is referring to Trump declaring (in a Truth Social post) a debate with Kamala Harris on Fox News as opposed to the original plan for one on ABC News (which was originally scheduled against Joe Biden when he was still running).

Baio's comments were met with shock, with one saying,

Many netizens criticized Scott's decision, with one saying that if Republicans have to turn to the actor for advice, then they have already lost. Here are some comments seen on X,

"When you're getting debate strategy from Scott Baio, you've already lost," a user wrote.
"Guys, I swear to god this is real," a user commented.
"Does Chachi know that trump has no policies?" another reacted.

Others slammed Fox News for bringing on Scott,

"When Scott Baio has words of wisdom for you, you’re sinking fast," a user added.
"Fox brings on renown political consultant… Scott Baio," one user commented.
"A tale of 2 campaigns: Kamala Harris announces Tim Walz as her VP to raucous crowd of over 10,000 in Philadelphia. Scott Baio on Fox News begging Donald Trump to stop insulting opponents and going off the rails," another wrote.

"That this country, from its inception, was a MAGA country" — Scott Baio on Hollywood celebrities endorsing Kamala Harris

Scott Baio began his career by appearing in TV commercials and playing minor roles in sitcoms. He rose to fame at 16, leading the 1976 gangster film Bugsy Malone. Because of his early acting career, Baio never graduated from high school. He is best known for his roles as Chachi Arcola on Happy Days and Joanie Loves Chachi.

Scott Baio also discussed Harris electing Tim Walz as her running mate and the Comedians For Kamala Zoom call in his interview. Comedians for Kamala is a series of Zoom calls hosted by several comics to raise money for her campaign beginning July 21. Actors like Jeff Bridges, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Ben Stiller participated in the call.

When Jesse Watters asked the actor what punishment he would administer to Hollywood celebrities for endorsing Kamala, the latter stated he would teach them that "America is a representative republic." He continued,

"That this country, from its inception, was a MAGA country and has been that way for 200 plus years. And what MAGA means to me, Jesse, is God-fearing, powerful, prosperous, and safe. And we are none of those things right now."

Baio explained that the Comedians for Kamala video call was "weird, disjointed, awkward, dumb, not funny," and done with fake excitement. Watters agreed, adding that the same actors didn't show the same for Biden. To which the actor remarked that "these people two minutes ago wanted her kicked off the ticket."

The actor continued,

"When he gives his speeches at these rallies, policy, period. Once he gets goes off the rails, it becomes confusing."

Kamala Harris's campaign stated they would stick to the original plan of a debate on ABC News.
