Directed by Moritz Mohr, Boy Kills World was released in September 2023 and included Bill Skarsgård as its deaf-mute star. The movie revolves around Boy, a martial arts expert who loses his entire family and becomes deaf-mute following an attack by a group of criminals. This leads him to a violence-filled rampage as he attempts to take revenge on the group of killers.

Premiered initially at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival, the Lionsgate offering failed to create the kind of impact that it was initially expected to. The movie garnered just $3.1 million at the box office and did not receive good reviews as well.

It has a 6.5 rating on IMDb and a score of 59% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it is expected that the movie will end up with a better run via its digital premiere and the subsequent release on streaming platforms. While the movie is set to be available via digital and on-demand services starting from May 28, it is expected to eventually reach Hulu, which is said to be down to the platform’s deal with Roadside Attractions.

The movie stars a range of familiar faces in addition to Bill Skarsgård. This includes the likes of Jessica Rothe, Michelle Dockery, Brett Gelman, Isaiah Mustafa, Yayan Ruhian, Andrew Koji, Sharlto Copley, and Famke Janssen, a cast lineup that initially raised expectations for the project.

However, its box office run did not turn out ideal. However, Boy Kills World has now been given a second lease of life via the announcement of the digital release. The movie itself delves into how Boy’s entire family is killed by Hilda Van Der Koy, a mobster played by Famke Janssen, who acts as the leader of a traditional dystopian dynasty.

The lead character undergoes huge physical transformations in the first part of the Boy Kills World, which leaves him orphaned, deaf, and mute as a child. However, he is taken under the wing of a shaman, played by Yayan Ruhian, who trains him and sends him on a quest for revenge. The movie itself featured some impressive VFX and was initially praised for its quaint and humorous storytelling, despite delving into a tragic story.

The character, much like Jackie Chan in Hollywood, puts up a range of superbly choreographed action scenes in the movie, with Skarsgård perfectly capturing the essence of the tragic protagonist. Furthermore, the movie is also the directorial debut of Moritz Mohr, which further added to its hype.

While an official streaming date for the Hulu release of Boy Kills World has not been announced yet, the same can be expected in the coming days.
