On June 12, a Deadline exclusive stated that Cameron Van Hoy has begun production for The Prince, a feature drama set to be partly based on the life of American Attorney and businessman Hunter Biden. The controversial figure is the son of current US President Joe Biden. He detailed his extraordinary life filled with drug use and alcohol abuse in his memoir Beautiful Things and was recently convicted in a gun trial.
The movie, which is set to be based on his life without making any direct references, has announced a stellar cast and has a script written by Pulitzer winner David Mamet. The cast includes the likes of Nicolas Cage, J.K. Simmons, Giancarlo Esposito, and Andy Garcia.
The Prince will delve into the life of a young drug addict who navigates a high-stakes world of power, pleasure, and pain, before embarking on a transformative journey that leads to recovery, according to the official synopsis.
The Prince begins production, boasting of faces such as Nicolas Cage and Giancarlo Esposito
The truly remarkable ensemble of a cast is one of the reasons for fans to be excited about the release of The Prince. The Deadline exclusive also states that the movie is at least partly based on Hunter Biden’s journey, although no direct references will be made.
Biden is currently in the media spotlight after he was found guilty of three felony counts, which are directly related to the purchase of a firearm, back in 2018. Regardless, the link between The Prince and Hunter Biden was effectively confirmed some time back in an interview with Mamet, who stated the following:
"These guys who did Sound of Freedom, they came to me and they said, ‘You want to write a movie for us?’ I said, ‘Yeah sure, what do you got? They said they wanted to do a movie about Hunter Biden."
As things stand, there are no details about the plot of the movie. However, the legendary faces who are coming together in it are bound to add to the excitement. Nicolas Cage, who was recently seen in The Surfer, is currently preparing for the release of his horror flick, Longlegs.
Scott Haze is set to star in the movie as the lead character, with the Deadline exclusive stating that Hunter Biden’s memoir, Beautiful Things, at least acts as a reference for the script.
Still, there are going to be no direct references to the real-life personality, with Van Hoy stating the following about working with David Mamet:
“It’s amazing to work with David Mamet on this wildly original screenplay.”
Regardless, with the actors set to be seen in the movie, fans have every reason to be excited.
