Violet Affleck, the 18-year-old daughter of actors Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, recently reflected on the impact of her 2019 health crisis. She made an appearance during a discussion on COVID-19 preventive measures on Tuesday, July 9, at the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors meeting.
In a video shared on X, she opened up about a private health matter she faced in 2019 and reflected on how the health issue affected her. It was called a post-viral condition.
During the meeting, she revealed-
"I contracted a post-viral condition in 2019. I'm okay now, but I saw first-hand that medicine does not always have answers to the consequences of even minor viruses. The COVID-19 pandemic has thrown that into sharper relief."
At a Tuesday city board meeting, Violet introduced herself and then urged the board members to impose mask regulations in LA hospitals, stating that the county must oppose mask bans. She further requested the board to approve the mask mandate.
Violet Affleck warned the country against mask ban and urged everyone to take precautions
Violet Affleck recently talked about how a health issue has affected her life.
The eldest daughter of Affleck and Garner, who announced their split in 2015 after 10 years of marriage, is frequently pictured wearing a mask, although her parents have never explained it.
The teenager now made an emotional plea in a video posted on X during a meeting of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. Affleck, who is pictured mask-wearing, first identified herself as-
“Violet Affleck, Los Angeles resident, first time voter and 18.”
She then shared that in 2019 she had developed a health issue called the post-viral condition. She then assured everyone that she was ok, but she also disclosed that medication is not always effective in treating the effects of viruses, no matter how small.
She further added-
“It stands to exacerbate our homelessness crisis, as well as the suffering of many people in our city. It hits communities of color, disabled people, elderly people, trans people, women and anyone in a public-facing essential job the hardest.”
She also urged the body-
“You must expand the availability of high-quality free tests and treatment, and most importantly the county must oppose mask bans for any reason. They do not keep us safer.”
The daughter of Garner and Affleck further mentioned the COVID-19 epidemic in her speech and stated that this is now more evident due to the Covid-19. The condition is a painful neurological and cardiovascular disease that can impair a person's ability to work, see, move, and even think.
Violet continued-
“To confront the long Covid crisis, I demand mask availability, air filtration and far-UVC lights in government facilities, including jails and detention centers, and mask mandates in county medical facilities.”
While masks are not illegal in Los Angeles, the mayor, Karen Bass, has proposed a mask ban. As a reply to Bass’ proposal, Violet emphasized on the potential harm that the ban could cause.
Ben and Jen's daughter also supported the idea of expanding access to free testing and treatment options. Stating the same, she said-
“[The mask ban] do not keep us safer, they make vulnerable members of our community less safe and make everyone less able to participate in Los Angeles together.”
What is the post-viral condition?
Mayo Clinic reported that the post-viral condition develops after a viral infection. It gives a persistent feeling of weakness and exhaustion just like it happens when someone recovers from a viral illness, like the flu.
The effects of the illness include orthostasis, memory loss, exhaustion, dyspnea, post-exertional malaise, and widespread pain. The effects of PCC on health, mental health, and the economy are profound. Month-long symptoms further frequently include weariness, fatigue, lethargy, memory loss, and difficulty focusing.
