Halle Berry recalled the time when Prince asked her out on a date, with the late musician sending her a piece of paper during one of his concerts. The actress talked about the incident on the Monday, September 23, episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live.

The conversation about Prince started with talk show host Jimmy Kimmel asking the actress whether or not the rumor that Michael Jackson recruited Babyface to help him ask Berry on a date was true. Berry replied:

"I don't know, but I know Prince asked me out on a date."

When Kimmel pushed for details and asked Berry how Prince asked her on a date and if it was in person, The Flintstones actress replied, "sort of." She explained:

"I was at one of his concerts here on Sunset at the Key Club, and he had somebody come out with a piece of paper. And you know like kids do, you say, 'Do you like me? Yes or no.' I went, yes! I mean, I'm at his concert, right? Yes! Came back out again, 'Would you go out with me?'"

Halley Berry admitted to Jimmy Kimmel that she didn't answer Prince's note about going out with him.

"No, I didn't send the paper back. I kept the paper," she elaborated.

The host casually asked her if he could have it and marveled about how Prince was scribbling down notes for Halle Berry in "between guitar solos."

Halle Berry cleared another rumor about her being in the Deadpool vs. Wolverine movie

After the Michael Jackson and Babyface rumor, which progressed into Halle Berry's story about Prince, the actress also cleared the rumor that she was supposed to appear in the Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman's Deadpool vs. Wolverine film.

When Kimmel asked her about it, Berry replied that she "heard" about the rumor too. She explained:

"I heard that from... let's see, I was at a Michael Kors fashion show and Blake [Lively], Ryan's wife, asked me, 'If Ryan asked you to be in Deadpool, would you?'"

Kimmel then asked the actress if she would be down to be in Reynold's film, and she said, "Of course, I would." However, she admitted to the host that they never called her about a role, to which both Berry and Kimmel laughed about.

The host jokingly said that maybe Blake Lively just forgot to pass the message along to Reynolds and Jackman, or that Lively "pulled a Prince," referring to Berry never answering Prince's note about going out with him.

In related news, Halle Berry is starring in the new survival horror Never Let Go, where she plays a mother trying to keep her twin sons safe in a post-apocalyptic world. The film was released in movie theaters across the United States on Friday, September 20, 2024.
