The character made an appearance in several Marvel films including, Iron Man (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), The Avengers (2012), Iron Man 3 (2013), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Captain America: Civil War (2016), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: End Game (2019).
Robert Downey Jr. on consulting Disney CEO, Bob Iger on Doctor Doom role
While speaking about how Marvel Studio boss Kevin Feige convinced him to take on the role of Doctor Doom while talking in the The Hollywood Reporter's Awards Chatter podcast, Robert Downey Jr. also revealed that he consulted with Disney CEO, Bob Iger before confirming the role.
Iger was aware of the role and said, "I like it. Robert Downey Jr. shared what he felt following Iger's response, in the podcast and said,
"I was like, 'He likes it.' He (Iger) said, 'Come by the Imagineering Campus.' Feige and I go to the Imagineering Campus and you want to talk about two guys that are not easy to have their minds blown, let alone at the same time..."
The Walt Disney Imagineering campus is the headquarters and creative hub for Walt Disney Imagineering and a place where teams of engineers, artists, designers, and other creative professionals collaborate to work on Disney's imaginative ideas.
Doctor Doom is a major antagonist in the Fantastic Four and has battled the Avengers and the X-Men. Marvel fans have been waiting with bated breath for the return of their beloved actor.
