⁠Is Robert Downey Jr. returning as Tony Stark? D23 announces upcoming Disneyland rides with Iron Man's appearance

Social media buzzed with excitement when it was revealed that Robert Downey Jr. would return as Tony Stark, not in a movie but as part of a Disneyland ride. At the D23 event, it was announced that Robert Downey Jr.'s character Iron Man, will feature in a new ride called "Stark Flight Lab." This ride will be part of the expanded Avengers Campus at Disneyland's California Adventure and will involve a two-person pod.

“If you’re up for another mission, Tony Stark has one for you. And you know Tony, he always wants to try something new and exciting, and it’s going to make you feel like a Super Hero yourself. With the just announced Stark Flight Lab, you’re going to sit in two-person pods and deploy to a test station. Then a robot arm grabs your pod and starts whirling you around in a simulated flight," stated the Disney Parks Blog.

"And, a familiar face will join you at the Stark Flight Lab — Mr. Stark himself. Robert Downey Jr. reprises his role as Tony Stark for the attractions in the land," the blog further stated.

Disney also announced a new ride called "Avengers Infinity Defense," featuring Thanos and iconic Marvel locations, at the California Adventure Park. However, Disney has not yet announced the launch dates for these two new rides.

Robert Downey Jr. has appeared as Iron Man/Tony Stark in 10 Marvel movies, starting with Iron Man in 2008 and most recently in Avengers: Endgame.

The park already has rides dedicated to Spider-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy in its Avengers Campus themed area.

Robert Downey Jr. will now be seen as Doctor Doom in two Avengers movies

Social media users were ecstatic to know that they would get to see Robert Downey Jr. once again in one of his most iconic role, as Iron Man. However, the actor will also be making a comeback in two of the Avengers films, all set to release in 2026 and 2027.

As per Hollywood Reporter, Downey Jr. will portray the role of Doctor Doom for Avengers: Doomsday, which will be released in May 2026. He will also be seen in Avengers: Secret Wars in May 2027.

However, the actor retired from his role as Iron Man after Avengers: End Game was released in 2019, as in the movie, his character died while saving the universe.

While the netizens are ecstatic to see Robert as Iron Man/ Tony Stark once again, the actor has not yet reacted to the news.
