After starring as Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Tom Holland is going to catch his next big break, starring in Christopher Nolan's upcoming film at Universal Studios. While details about who Holland will be playing in the film remain unknown, this will be the actor's first collaboration with the acclaimed director.
Holland will also be starring alongside actor Matt Damon in Christopher Nolan's next big-screen adventure. Damon previously worked alongside Nolan twice in Interstellar and Oppenheimer, and this will mark the actor's third collaboration with the Oscar-winning director. Reports of Holland's casting in the film were first reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
It is unknown what Nolan's next film will be about, but it is said to not take place in the present day. According to a report by Gizmodo, it is said that Nolan's next film will be a Vampire movie that will take place in the 1920s. However, it will be advised to take this rumor with a pinch of salt.
Christopher Nolan's next film, starring Matt Damon and Tom Holland, is also gearing up to start shooting next year. He will be partnering with Universal Studios again for his next release after they previously collaborated on Oppenheimer as well, which won Nolan the Oscar for best director and the film took home the best picture award as well.
The collaboration with Universal Studios comes post Nolan's break-up with Warner Bros. Pictures following the controversy over Tenet's release. Nolan's next flick currently has a release date of July 17, 2026.
Tom Holland to star in Spider-Man 4 and Avengers: Doomsday as well
It's going to be a busy 2024 for Tom Holland. Alongside potentially starring in Christopher Nolan's next big feature, Holland will also be juggling the shoots between Spider-Man 4 and Avengers: Doomsday.
While Spider-Man 4 is still yet to receive a release date, Avengers: Doomsday will be released in theaters on May 1, 2026, with Holland starring as Peter Parker / Spider-Man in both of them.
The most recent update on Spider-Man 4 saw director Destin Daniel Cretton come on board to direct the film. Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers will write the film as well after previously writing Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Avengers: Doomsday is also scheduled to begin filming at the same time as Spider-Man 4. The film will see the return of the Russo Brothers to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will also see Robert Downey Jr. return as well after previously portraying Iron Man to come in and play Doctor Doom. Russo Brothers will also be directing Avengers: Secret Wars later on.
Details on both projects are being kept under wraps but Tom Holland is set to star in Avengers: Doomsday for now at least. Marvel Studios made a pivot to Doctor Doom after scrapping the plans for Kang the Conqueror to be the Multiverse Saga's big bad after actor Jonathan Majors was acquitted in a domestic abuse case.
