"It would be very fun to shoot ice out of your hand" — Anya Taylor-Joy says her dream Disney role would be Elsa in a Frozen musical

Anya Taylor-Joy, recently in an interview, said that if Disney ever produced a live-action Frozen, she would be the first person to audition for the role of Elsa. On September 2, Vogue Hong Kong released an interview piece in which the actress talked about her career, craft, and learning opportunities in life.

The Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga actress said that her reason for wanting to act in a Disney musical is that she would be able to tell her nephews and nieces she played Elsa and shot ice from her hands. Previously, she auditioned for a role in Maleficent. When asked about her dream Disney role, Anya Taylor-Joy said,

“Oh! I would love to do a musical because I’m a bit addicted to hard work. I like having an impossible mountain to climb. The idea of having to be able to sing, dance, and act at the same time would just really thrill me.”

The actress further added,

“I think Frozen would be pretty great. It would be very fun to shoot ice out of your hand. Also, you’d just be the favourite at every kid’s birthday party. All of my siblings have children now, so I would love for them to be able to say ‘my auntie is Elsa.’ That would be pretty sick.”

According to Anya Taylor-Joy, the most interesting aspect of learning skills is the person who teaches. Moreover, she said she gets drawn to what she can do as a character which she wouldn’t be able to do in reality. The actress concluded by saying that even though 'Anya' is afraid of heights, she would still jump off a building if the character she plays needed to do so.

Disney’s Frozen 3 to be released in 2027

A live-action version of Frozen has been a topic of discussion among fans for quite a while, however, Disney has not confirmed their plans regarding it. The entertainment conglomerate is also in the process of making the third and fourth sequels of Frozen.

In August, Jennifer Lee, the chief creative officer at Walt Disney Animation Studios displayed the concept artwork of Frozen 3. She added that an original production for 2026 was in the works although she did not disclose anything more about that. During the demonstration she said,

“Coming out of Frozen 2, we still have some questions, a lot of questions actually. Now you see why it will take two films to answer them.”

Lee did not elaborate on the artwork saying she could not reveal too much. However, she said that the artwork captured the scenes of the next epic adventure for Anna and Elsa. Idina Menzel is also confirmed to return as Elsa in the sequel

Jennifer Lee hinted that the artwork might spark new questions from everyone but Disney Animation was nevertheless excited to be back with its productions. Additionally, Zootopia 2, Toy Story 5, and Incredibles 3 are in the process of creation.
