Inside Out 2 star Paul Walter Hauser apologized for his recent comments on Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel. The actor took to Instagram on Sunday, July 7, to put out a post apologizing for his "needlessly mean-spirited" comment on Diesel. The actor apologized for ranting about a person who he's never met. He wrote in the caption:
"It isn’t fair of me to make judgments of that kind, and even if some of those things turned out to be true, it is mean to shout them out and playfully attack someone."
The apology stemmed from an interview with CinemaBlend, released on June 14. Hauser was taken aback by the interviewer comparing his work on Inside Out 2 with that of Vin Diesel's in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Hauser claimed that he was "on time and approachable" and slyly mentioned that he'd heard stories about actors who get paid well but mistreat people.
Paul Walter Hauser is "genuinely sorry" for his comments regarding Vin Diesel
The cast of Inside Out 2, sat down with CinemaBlend's Jeff McCobb for an interview that was released on YouTube on June 14. Paul Walter Hauser who voiced 'Embarrassment' was also present at the interview alongside Lewis Black who portrayed 'Anger.'
When Hauser was talking about his character's arc during the session, McCobb mentioned that he was like Vin Diesel now, referencing the Fast and Furious star's time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Guardians of The Galaxy's Groot. Hauser immediately responded:
"Please don't say that. I like to think I'm on time and approachable,"
He apologized and further stated:
"Sorry, I love people, but when I hear stories about Hollywood actors who get paid really well and mistreat people, I out them constantly. And it’s a blast."
Later on, when Lewis Black noted that he would like to portray the emotion of intelligence just to talk like an "arrogant snot", Hauser mentioned that comedian Bill Maher was going to get a phone call for the next Inside Out movie.
The actor apologized and added that he was too tired and wasn't fed lunch so he was just going to keep throwing "shade" at people.
On Sunday, July 7, Paul Walter Hauser rolled back his comments on Vin Diesel and made a public apology on Instagram. The Black Bird actor took to the social media platform to post a bible quote, namely 1 Thessalonians 4:11 which stated:
"Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life,"
The actor recalled the comment he made about Vin Diesel and mentioned that although it started humorously, it ended up with him "dogging" Diesel out over reports of his behavior that he had heard from "multiple sources" on "multiple occasions". Paul Walter Hauser revealed:
"I had done a night shoot on a Friday, gotten 1 hour of sleep, and then flew to LA from ATL at 6am to do a full day of press for Inside Out 2. I was exhausted and, in my fatigued state, I shot my mouth off and made a careless, needlessly mean-spirited, comment. That comment was recorded and then went viral."
The actor apologized for making the comment and reflected on his behavior of getting riled up by things he's seen or heard and then outing the people responsible for the sake of feeling "momentarily satiating". Paul Walter Hauser continued:
"I no longer feel that way and am genuinely sorry for shooting my mouth off and not showing love to Vin, who I do not know and have never met."
Paul Walter Hauser reflected that as a "self-professed Christian" he needed to do a better job of loving people, not trying to "right a wrong", and using a verbal flex to allow his ego to posture itself.
He once again apologized to Vin Diesel by tagging the actor and thanking him for entertaining people and making them happy. Hauser professed that he was trying to do the same.
Meanwhile, Inside Out 2 was released in theatres on June 14 to an overwhelmingly positive reception. The movie became the fastest animated film to cross the elusive $1 billion mark and currently sits at a Rotten Tomatoes score of 91%.
