Jon Hamm reveals why he was scared to propose to wife Anna Osceola ahead of their first anniversary

In a June 19 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Fargo actor Jon Hamm revealed why he was scared to propose to his wife, Anna Osceola. He discussed his fear was a result of his parent's marriage, which didn't last long,

"Obviously, my parents were not married long, so I don't have a model to look at and go, 'Oh, this is how one finds happiness. I just knew at a certain point I wanted to be with this person. But when I proposed, I was terrified. I was like, 'What am I doing?'

When asked what the actor was terrified of, he added,

"I dont know. I just remember feeling, 'This is really scary. Then going, 'Well it probably means it's worthwhile.' And my wedding day was perfect. Everybody I love was there.

He also added he felt emotional but felt it was the right thing to do. Jon Hamm and Anna Osceola tied the knot on June 24, 2023, at the Anderson Canyon in Big Sur, California, after their engagement in February 2023. The couple first crossed paths on the sets of Hamm's series, Mad Men, in 2015, in which Anna played a small role. They were only seen spending time together in 2020. Before Anna, he was dating Jennifer Westfeldt for 18 years.

Anna Osceola is also an actor, and made her acting debut in 2007 with Not Another High School Show.

"I will be the old dad" says Jon Hamm while he considers having kids

While Jon Hamm revealed his newfound perspective on marriage after being married to Anna Osceola, he also revealed he wants to be a dad despite being 53.

"Again, it was like a reset, a reboot, a reframe, a reimagiing, nine years later, almost to the day. So it's been great. And I hope it turns into kids. It's not lost on me that I'm 53. I will be the old dad but so it goes. It could be a good thing. We'll see."

Jon initially talked about his plans on welcoming parenthood in 2022 on the SiriusXM radio show, months before he proposed to Anna in 2023. He revealed his relationship with the actress had opened up the possibility of having kids.

In December 2023, while talking to PEOPLE, Jon Hamm shed light on his holiday time with Anna.

"The best part of it is just being together. That's really it."

Jon Hamm added, "It's doubly nice that we're married now, and that's really fun," and expressed excitement about creating new family traditions.
