Stars Blake Lively and Hugh Jackman came together for Vogue's cover shoot for its September 2024 issue. The Baz Luhrmann-directed shoot took inspiration from Alfred Hitchcock's 1955 flick To Catch a Thief, with Lively playing the thief "The Cat" and Jackmar portraying "L'Ombre," her unsuspecting victim.
The shoot saw the two actors in a bevy of scenes around Monte Carlo, with Lively attired in a black cat-like body suit holding a bag of jewels in one shot. As the photos from the issue circulated on social media, many were happy to see the two on a cover shoot together. One person tweeted:
More people praised the shoot, dubbing it iconic and beautiful.

Blake Lively and Hugh Jackman's Vogue photoshoot is called "The Heist of the Heart"
The title is a reference to the source material, Alfred Hitchcock's To Catch a Thief, starring Cary Grant and Grace Kelly. The photoshoot saw Blake Lively and Hugh Jackman in various locations, including inside a casino where Lively wears a Burmese ruby necklace originally owned by Elizabeth Taylor.
In another shot, Lively and Jackman are riding down the streets of Monte Carlo in a scooter, with Lively's polka-dotted black and white dress fluttering behind her in the wind. While the background resembles Monte Carlo, Vogue confirmed the shot was captured in New York using LED technology.
In another picture, the pair are on the beach, with Blake Lively in a red and white swimsuit. Jackman stands beside her in an unbuttoned cream shirt with brown and mustard stripes and matching shorts.
Another black-and-white shot shows Hugh Jackman reading a newspaper with the headline "Cat Burglar is on the prowl." Lively is handcuffed and escorted by the police towards a police car while Jackman walks away from her in a second black-and-white image.
In an accompanying interview with Vogue, Blake, the cover star of the magazine's September issue, expressed her admiration for director Baz Luhrmann.
“My life has become more intimate. But when they said Baz will do it, I thought, Okay, I’ve always wanted to work with Baz. Even if it’s just a week doing a photo shoot for Vogue, that’s still working with him. Seeing through his lens and how he tells stories," she said.
Fashion editor Tonne Goodman styled the shoot. Luhrmann's wife, Catherine Martin, worked as the production designer.
Blake Lively, aged 36, and Hugh Jackman, aged 55, have been long-time friends through Lively's husband Ryan Reynolds. The trio recently attended the Deadpool & Wolverine premiere, which was released on July 26. They were again spotted at Lively's It Ends With Us New York premiere on August 6.
