Mark Hamill, a celebrated actor known for his iconic role as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, faces a wave of backlash on social media following a comment directed at former President Donald Trump after surviving an alleged attack.

On July 16, 2024, Mark Hamill took to his X and shared a recent picture of Trump with his right ear partially covered with a bandage. In his tweet, he sarcastically suggested that the bandage on Trump's ear is huge and possibly unnecessary.

"1st APPEARANCE of ludicrously oversized ear bandage, apparently not needed prior to tonight. 👂🤣," Mark Hamill tweeted.

The tweet garnered significant attention on X, with many referencing his role in Star Wars and suggesting that Mark Hamill's tweet did not reciprocate the "Jedi" way as they were the guardians of peace. One netizen tweeted:

"Luke, this is not the Jedi way."

The reaction to Mark Hamill's tweet was swift and severe. Netizens argued that Mark Hamill's comment was inappropriate, especially in light of the severe nature of the attack, with many showing disregard for his remarks.

"Dude you're straight up evil," second wrote.
"He got shot and went golfing the next day. You lot curl in a [expletive] if someone calls you the wrong pronouns. Levels," another on X.
"If you went through what Trump went through, the Secret Service would have had to lift you out of your own puddle of p*ss and tears and then cry you off. You're a weak, low-testosterone, short-[expletive], hobbit of a man who wishes he had half the brass [expletive] Trump has. Go sit down somewhere while the real men take care of business," another wrote on X.
"There was an assassination attempt 72 hours ago. But total drama queen. Right, Mark?" one more on X.
"You ever get shot, Mark? Shut the [expletive] up," one on X.
"Trump is out in public hours after being shot by one of the lunatics in your party. Sit this one out [expletive]," another on X.

A few individuals suggested that, rather than expressing hatred towards Mark Hamill, they would prefer to pray for him in hopes that he might understand his remarks' insensitivity.

"I was going to say something really hateful, but instead, I'll pray for you," one said.
"So.. this is your life now? This is what you do?" another on X.
