Johnny Depp was on a break from acting for around three years and returned to the big screen last year with Jeanne du Barry. He has been recently honored with a global contribution to the motion picture trophy at the National Film Awards for the same.
He also gave a speech to the crowd at the event, saying that he is thankful for the opportunity and is lucky and honored to have been able to continue his work in the industry. The Dark Shadows star continued by expressing gratitude to his fans who supported him over the years and added:
"It's always especially humbling when recognition for your endeavours comes directly from the hearts of the people, the hearts and minds who've joined me on this long mystical, magical, sometimes tragic – yet never boring journey."
Johnny Depp additionally thanked people for letting him tell his stories and for loving the characters that he portrayed throughout his career. He stated that his fans are the reason why he loves to work more and ended by saying:
"It's only because of you that I'm here today. I thank you and I send you much love and respect, always."
Jeanne du Barry was released on April 19 this year and the basic premise focuses on the life of King Louis XV's mistress. It features French actress Maïwenn in the lead, who additionally serves as a director.
Johnny Depp and Andrea Bocelli would be playing together at a few concerts
While the Transcendence star is slowly getting back to his usual work in films and TV shows, he will be appearing alongside Andrea Bocelli at some concerts. The latter is celebrating his 30 years in music with a concert film, titled Andrea Bocelli 30: The Celebration which will release in theaters soon.
The celebrations will also include a lineup of three performances scheduled between July 15 and 19 this year. Bocelli announced the same through his Instagram page three days ago, describing Johnny Depp as a "disarmingly charming actor" who has managed to bring several popular "characters to life on the big screen."
Furthermore, Andrea thanked the Black Mass star for accepting the invitation, adding that it would be fun to share the stage with Depp. He further stated:
"I fondly recall playing and singing with Johnny Depp when he visited my home in Tuscany. We're happy to announce that this unexpected pairing will perform once more – and this time in public, as his fans will be thrilled to hear."
Notably, the Yoga Hosers star is well-known for his career as a singer and he even performed in London last month as a tribute to his friend Jeff Beck, who passed away in January last year. Beck was popular for being a part of the rock band, The Yardbirds.
Depp was joined by Jeff's wife Sandra along with musicians Toby Lee and Anika Nilles. Johnny was a close friend of Jeff since 2016 and they even collaborated on an album, 18, which came out back in 2022.
Johnny Depp has another film in his upcoming lineup, titled Modi. Although he does not play any role in the project, he serves as a producer and director, and a release date is yet to be confirmed.
