Natalie Portman talks about feeling grateful on her birthday post months after finalizing her divorce from Benjamin Millepied 

Natalie Portman took to Instagram on June 9 to celebrate her 43rd birthday. In the post, she thanked her friends and expressed gratitude. The post shows Portman smiling with her friends at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival and the Dior Fall - Winter 2023 - 2024 fashion show in Paris, France. In the caption, she mentioned,

"This year, on my birthday, I want to celebrate my gratitude for my friends who lift me up again and again."

Portman's post comes after her divorce from Benjamin Mililepied in February. The two share two children: son Aleph, 12, and daughter Amalia, 6.

Natalie Portman and Benjamin Milliepied relationship explored

Natalie Portman met Benjamin Milliepied, choreographer and dancer, on the sets of her movie Black Swan in 2009. Benjamin trained Natalie for the role. The two announced their engagement and pregnancy in December 2010 in a story for PEOPLE. In a statement, Portman said,

"I have always kept my private life private but I will say that I am indescribably happy and feel very grateful to have this experience."

The two then made their red carpet debut together at the Academy Awards in 2011 and in June, Natalie gave birth to Aleph. The couple got married in a Jewish Ceremony in August 2012 and moved to Paris in late 2014. While speaking to Marie Claire about moving to Paris, Portman said,

"It's one of the most exciting places to be in the world right now. It's really central in terms of the arts. It feels like things are happening in L.A, you know? New York is more where art is bought than where art is made. When Ben asked me if I wanted to go to Paris, I freaked. Everyone dreams of living in Paris."

The couple later in 2016 returned to the US in 2017 and welcomed their second child, daughter Amalia.

In August 2022, Portman took to Instagram to celebrate 10 years of marriage with Milliepied. The post featured a black-and-white photo of the couple holding hands with the caption,

"Ten years today @benjaminmilliepied, and it keeps getting better..."

However, in June 2023, French outlet Voici reported and speculated that Milliepied had an extramarital affair and had been trying to get Natalie Portman to forgive him.

While talking to Vanity Fair's 30th annual Hollywood Issue, Portman addressed rumors surrounding her marriage and said,

"It's terrible and I have no desire to contribute to it."

In March 2024, reports said that the actress had quietly filed for divorce in July 2024, and the divorce happened in France in February according to a friend of the couple.
