Nicholas Cage’s highly-anticipated horror-thriller Longlegs dropped the second teaser trailer earlier today. More detailed than the first one, the movie, directed by Osgood Perkins, will star Malika Monroe as Lee Harker, a young female FBI agent who has been given a case of a serial killer.

The latest trailer, a 2-minute, 21-second watch, gave fans a detailed look into the kind of plot and jumpscares that await them, and is bound to increase the hype around the project. Nicholas Cage stars as a serial killer driven by occult ambitions and has already killed multiple families in the movie. The trailer sees Lee Harker attempt to get closer to the killer in a bid to identify him.

However, things continue to get worse as she ambles closer to his identity.

Longlegs drops all-new trailer featuring plenty of jumpscares

The trailer itself opens up with Lee Harker writing in her journal in the middle of the night when some rude knocks on her door force her to open it. However, when she does not see anyone, she ambles across to the garden with her gun pointed. As she attempts to spot the intruder, audiences can spot her room in the background, which sees a mysterious figure enter and close the door at the back.

As Harker looks behind, the screen opens up to her being appointed the chief investigator in an unsolved serial killer case. This leads her to a harrowing investigation, which continues to get scarier. Cage’s unnamed character has already killed multiple families and appears to have a personal connection with Monroe’s Lee Harker.

As the FBI agent continues her investigation, things continue to get awry as the existence of various occult elements is unearthed. This seemingly puts Monroe’s own family, which also includes her daughter, at risk, as they are seemingly stalked by the serial killer.

Regardless, it is evident from the trailer that there is some sort of past connection between the killer and Lee Harker. The former continues to tease and call out to Harker and her child and claims that all he wanted was her attention, initially.

While Cage’s voice is heard throughout the Longlegs trailer, his face only pops up once, as he explains how being ignored by Harker has led him to kill so many. The clip then delves into chaos, as we see a range of innocent people being tied up and killed by what can only be assumed to be Cage.

Featuring plenty of genuinely fearsome jumpsares, we see Monroe’s Harker seemingly get close to the killer towards the conclusion of Longlegs' trailer. However, it is clear that there will be plenty of killings before Harker is able to bring him to justice. The Neon Productions’ offering is scheduled to be released in the USA on July 12th, 2024, and is already being recognized as a potential horror landmark.

Fans, of course, will have to wait until its premiere to find out whether Cage’s foray into the horror genre with Longlegs has actually paid off.
