After an image from the trailer of 28 Years Later went viral, apparently featuring an undead figure that looks like Cillian Murphy, it has been confirmed that the figure is indeed not Murphy. As confirmed by reports, the figure seen in the trailer is Angus Neill, a British art dealer and model who's known for his distinctive appearance.
The news came as quite a shock to fans of the franchise, as most had assumed that the figure was Cillian Murphy with excellent makeup work or CGI. Many took to social media to assert that they didn't believe the claim and that it was quite impossible to comprehend that the undead figure was not the Oscar-winning Oppenheimer star.

Who is the undead figure in 28 Years Later?
The viral indeed figure in the trailer of 28 Years Later, termed the "Emaciated Infected," is not played by Cillian Murphy as fans had assumed on seeing the trailer but by newcomer Angus Neill, a model and art dealer, who's known for his distinctive appearance.
He was allegedly selected by Danny Boyle personally for a part in this movie and he revealed the news himself when he saw fans assuming the figure to be Murphy.
The primary cast of 28 Years Later includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, and Jack O’Connell. Cillian Murphy is also slated to appear in the new sequel but it is unlikely that he will play a zombie, as most fans had assumed after the first trailer.
Anyhow, now that it's clarified that the undead figure is Angus Neill, fans can rest assured that Murphy will return as Jim in the franchise.
