Following this thread, fans of Gladiator showed their disappointment with the trailer.

“The rap music tells me this movie is for the children. The trailer tells me there is no compelling heroic arc in this story,” said a user.
While some fans criticized the music in the trailer, others seem to like it and supported the choice of the makers.

Gladiator 2: Plot
Gladiator 2 is going to be released over two decades after its first movie Gladiator in 2000. The movie follows Lucius, the grandson of King Marcus Aurelius and son of Lucilla.
Lucius was the actual future king, but because of the shift of power, he was turned down. He lives a quiet life with his wife and child in a place called Numidia until his peace is destroyed by Roman soldiers.
These soldiers ,led by General Marcus Acacius, attacked his home and captured him. He ends up as a slave and becomes a gladiator.
Lucius' story is inspired by the reality of Maximus, who decided to become a gladiator. He decides not to give up as he fights for his freedom.
Lucius opposes the two young and cruel rulers, Caracalla and Geta. To get his rights and freedom, he goes through many challenges and fights with his strong enemies.
