Fast & Furious has had a long drive to reach where it is today- quite far away from the gritty and realistic take on street racing that kickstarted the franchise. Over the past 10 movies, the franchise has taken things far, quite literally, with audacious stunts, storylines, and a focus on over-the-top action.

With another movie set to come out sometime in the near future, Vin Diesel has recently commented that he would like to take the franchise back to its roots of real street racing. With this realization coming so late in the franchise's run, fans have come with responses on social media platform X, highlighting how comically the series has evolved, and how Diesel reached this conclusion after so many Fast & Furious movies.

An X user summed this up, saying:

"Only took them 7 movies to realize that."

Other netizens also added to this.

"Wait so they aren’t gonna time travel and fight the Avengers in the next one?!"- another user added.
"We’ve been wanting that for 7 movies now. F&F 11 gonna end up with yall in space with the walking dead crew."- another user said.
"They already showed The Rock at the end of the last movie, so we already knew he was coming back. As far as the series is concerned, they've already gone to space, so it's too late to bring it back to reality now."- another user said.
"opening scene: the Fast & Furious crew discover a portal, in outer space, which can teleport them back in time. They begin building rocket powered super cars..."- another user said.

There is another movie slated to be in the direct franchise, among other planned spinoffs.

What did Vin Diesel say about Fast & Furious 11?

Vin Diesel, who plays the role of Dominic Torreto in the Fast & Furious universe, shared a post on his Instagram account on November 28, talking about the 11th movie in the franchise, where he claimed that Universal is pushing them to release the movie by 2026, but he wants to get back to old school street racing.

Diesel wrote:

"I got universal in one ear saying we need FastX2 by March 2026! I have Comcast in the other ear saying we need two movies to be the Finale! Then the writer on Fast Five sent me this image and said we need to see DOM and HOBBS resolve their differences. I just want to get back to real street racing, practical stunts… and a reunion of that beautiful brotherhood."

As many fans have pointed out, it would be a bit difficult for the franchise to go back to its best days as a lot has happened since the earlier Fast & Furious movies, which prioritized street racing over every other theme.

It is yet to be seen if the final movie does find a way to take Fast & Furious back a decade, and if so, how it does so.
