Meryl Streep will reportedly reprise her role for the sequel to The Devil Wears Prada. The original screenwriter, Aline Brosh McKenna, is also reportedly set to return. However, the rest of the cast remains undisclosed, including whether or not any of the other original members will return.
The plot of the sequel will seemingly revolve around Streep’s character, as she navigates her high-powered career as an editor in the wake of the transition from traditional magazine publishing to digital magazine. Reportedly, Miranda Priestly would face off against Emily Charlton, who would appear as an ambitious executive for a luxury advertising firm with the power to finance the former’s magazine advertisements.
Disney will be co-producing the sequel alongside Wendy Finerman. So far, it remains unknown who would direct it.
For those unaware, The Devil Wears Prada was a blockbuster and earned $326.7 million during its release in 2006. It also earned Streep an Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Comedy.
Notably, at this year’s SAG Awards, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt posed together on the red carpet as part of their latest reunion in February 2024.
