Jamie Lee Curtis recently apologized for the comments she made about the Marvel Cinematic Universe having a "bad" cinematic phase during the San Diego Comic-Con 2024 (July 26).

The Halloween Kills addressed the backlash on her Instagram account on August 1, 2024, by sharing footage where Kevin Hart gave her a compliment for being a "leader." She issued an apology statement for her offhand remarks, saying:

"If I'm a leader, then a leader shouldn't talk shit about other collaborative art form creators. My comments about Marvel were stupid and I will do better. I've reached out to Kevin Feige and will no longer play in that mud slinging sandbox of competition nor will I engage in the toiler paper promotion or game play that is designed for clicks not content."

Netizens were quick to react to the actress's apology, with some asking her to stand by her words, because they, too, agree with her previous comments that Marvel is going through a bad cinematic phase.

"People need a backbone," one Reddit user said.
"But she's right. It is bad," another Reddit user wrote.
"Lol... really? Her saying Marvel was in its "bad" phase got people that riled up. People need to touch grass as the youths say," a user on Reddit wrote.

She shared the same statement on her X account, and more fans commented on Jamie Lee Curtis's latest remark. Fans said that she didn't have to apologize for sharing her opinion.

"She didn't do anything wrong just gave her opinion and she shouldn't have to apologize. It's not like Jamie Lee Curtis ran anti Marvel hate campaign or something," a fan wrote on X.
"Nothing to apologize for, J. I mean... you were right... and I'm a fan of the stuff," another X user wrote.

The actress also got indirect support from Ryan Reynolds as the Deadpool & Wolverine star retweeted her apology statement and asked if everyone was expected to apologize for "slamming Marvel post-Endgame."

It's not the first time Jamie Lee Curtis criticized the MCU

While promoting her latest film Borderlands at the Comic-Con in San Diego last week, Jamie Lee Curtis shared a scathing remark when she was asked for her opinion of the current "phase" of the MCU. Without hesitation, the actress answered:

"Bad."

This wasn't the first time the actress got candid about her dislike for Marvel movies. The Freaky Friday star mocked the second installment of Doctor Strange on Instagram on May 6, 2022.

She uploaded a poster of her movie Everything Everywhere All At Once and Doctor Strange 2 side-by-side and wrote in the caption:

"Is it JUST me? Does it seem STRANGE that our tinu movie that could and did and continues to do ##1movieinamerica is TRULY MARVELOUS, out marvels any Marvel movie they put out there."

She also praised her movie in a subsequent post, saying that it is "marvelous" and features "beating heart and brilliant visual treats," but costs less than the entire budget spent for making Doctor Strange or any other MCU film.
