Finding Nemo is an animated film that was released in 2003 and captivated the audience with its unique storyline and animation. The movie was a hit at the box office, and its second installment, Finding Dory, was released in 2016.

The president of Pixar Animation Studios, Jim Morris, hinted at the possibility of a third Finding Nemo movie, in an interview with Bloomberg back in May 2024. He had mentioned, that among other things, the studio is contemplating sequels for both Finding Nemo and Incredibles franchises.

Fans have been waiting with bated breath for yet another adventure under the ocean since Finding Dory released in 2016.

Ellen DeGeneres, who is the voice behind the animated character Dory, recently addressed the rumors about her return to the franchise. During a stand-up performance in Santa Rosa, California, she stated that she wouldn't be returning to play Dory in the future.

The cast members of the movie include Alexander Gould as Nemo, Albert Brooks as Martin, and Willem Dafoe as Gill.

Jim Morris's comments regarding the possibility of new movie sequels came right after Pixar’s latest box office hit Inside Out 2; which has been extremely popular among viewers.

Talking of untapped potential and newer ventures, the Inside Out 2 director Pete Docter also remarked saying,

"Where else have we not gone in the ocean? The ocean's a big place, I think there's a lot of opportunity there. We're kind of fishing around."

This further cements Morris's views and fans may expect to watch their favorite characters on screen in the future.


Ellen DeGeneres comments on possible comeback in Finding Nemo

Amid speculations concerning a possible third installment of Finding Nemo, Ellen De Generes, Dory’s voice actress has commented on the posibility of a return in future projects. During her recent stand-up comedy performance in Santa Rosa, people asked about her plans following the conclusion of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

She suggested that her upcoming Netflix special will be her last public appearance ever. She said,

"Um, no. This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done."

When specifically asked about her return as Dory if a third film was made in the Finding Nemo franchise, the former talk show host said,

"No, I’m going bye-bye, remember."

What is the movie about?

Released by Pixar Animation Studios in 2003, Finding Nemo is an award-winning animated film. The plot follows Marlin, a clownfish, who travels across oceans to rescue his son, Nemo, who has been trapped by a diver inside a fish tank located in a dentist’s office. Dory, a blue reef fish, becomes Marlin’s partner throughout the adventurous journey.

The film was released by Pixar Animation Studios in 2003 and its sequel, Finding Dory, was released in 2016. Both films were equally successful and popular.
