Jon Voight has recently expressed criticism towards his daughter Angelina Jolie's views on the Israel-Hamas conflict as he spoke to Variety on July 23, 2024. Notably, Jolie called for a ceasefire through Instagram in October last year, speaking up on the loss of life that happened as a result of the bombings.
The actor said in the cover story for the outlet that Jolie's views were a result of being "influenced by antisemitic people" and added:
"She has been exposed to propaganda."
Voight continued by saying:
"Angie has a connection to the UN, and she's enjoyed speaking out for refugees. But these people are not refugees."
Jon Voight added that he loves his daughter and does not want to get involved in any other dispute with her. He further stated that she has been influenced by the U.N. for a long time and added:
"From the beginning, it's been awful with human rights. They call it human rights, but it's just anti-Israel bashing. She's ignorant of what the real stakes are and what the real story is because she's in the loop of the United States."
Angelina Jolie's Instagram post in 2023 featured a lengthy statement, where she wrote that she worked with the refugees for many years and referred to the people residing in Gaza, saying that most of them "lived under a severe blockade for nearly two decades."
Jolie even expressed her frustration towards the death of civilians and is praying for the return of all the hostages. She also wrote:
"The few aid trucks that are entering are a fraction of what is needed (and was delivered daily before the present conflict), and the bombings are causing desperate new humanitarian needs daily. The denial of aid, fuel and water is collectively punishing the people. Humanity demands an immediate ceasefire."
Jon Voight claimed that he was disappointed with his daughter after she shared the Instagram post
As mentioned, Angelina Jolie condemned the loss of lives that happened as a result of the Israel-Hamas conflict in a statement on social media last year. Jon Voight shared his response in November 2023 in a video posted via Instagram where he started by saying:
"I am very disappointed that my daughter, like so many, has no understanding of God's honor, God's truths."
Voight described his daughter's words as something that could destroy the "history of God's land, the Holy land, the Land of the Jews." He even had a few words for the people supporting Palestinians and claimed that certain territories received a huge sum of money but they were never shared with the public.
Jon Voight additionally stated that the money was used to create weapons, adding that the residents of Israel care for each other. He said that the Palestinians can never understand the meaning of "love and cherish" and continued:
"The ones who understand truth see the life. These animals want to wipe out the Jews, Christians. They see that the Palestinians have not been neglected of finance."
The 85-year-old is known for his performances in films such as Enemy of the State, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Transformers, and Megalopolis.
