Timothée Chalamet displayed his sense of humor, joking about his award show experiences while hosting Saturday Night Live on January 25, 2025. The actor also poked fun at his own Hollywood mishaps, including his frequently questioned facial hair.
The Dune actor then talked about how he never won an award for which he was nominated. He joked:
“It’s an enormous honor going to these award shows… It’s a great experience but I just keep losing. And each time, it gets harder to pretend it doesn’t sting. Let’s take a look. Oh man, just another lonely night with my Dune popcorn bucket.”
Once the video went viral, netizens expressed their opinion, with one X user sarcastically asking:
“So this guy is dating Kylie?”
The user here referred to Timothée Chalamet's alleged dating of the Jenner sister for the last two years. Others also criticized the performance, as one asked if he was on m*th while another said they reportedly yawned while watching the performance.
“I can't believe he’s dating kylie jenner,” another one echoed the same sentiment.
“Who else yawned,” one asked.
“Is he on m*thh,” another one joked.
On the other hand, some reacted positively to the video; one said it was really nice, while another opined the monologue was "massive."
“Solid monologue,” one user defended him.
“Amazing,” said another one.
“The SNL monologue is massive,” said another X user.
Timothée Chalamet also talked about Bob Dylan and his upcoming biopic
The 29-year-old Timothée Chalamet also served as Saturday Night Live's host and musical guest on January 25, 2025. In the monologue, he commented on his habit of losing out on top honors to his competitors despite receiving his second Oscar nomination. He received the nod in the Best Actor category at the 2025 Academy Awards for his performance in Bob Dylan's biopic, A Complete Unknown.
Joking about his facial hair in the opening statement, the actor said:
“This is my third time hosting Saturday Night Live, but the first time hosting it with a little stache and a little goatee. That’s 37 hairs right there.”
He used this part to break the ice before starting his musical performance. Chalamet then stated that he wanted to win the biopic rather than trotting along lowly avenues.
“I’m truly overjoyed. I was literally crying in my dressing room when I found out because the entire creative team worked so incredibly hard bringing to life the brilliant artist Bob Dylan, the man whose music and career has become a guiding light to me,” he said.
Later in the evening, Chalamet suggested that the Bob Dylan songs he would play at the concert might not be the singer's best-known hits. However, added that they are his favorites. Then, with an eerie rendition of Dylan's Tomorrow is a Long Time, the actor demonstrated his acting and singing talent.
Additionally, a video featured Chalamet's dissatisfied emotions as victors were announced, followed by a transition to his frequent defeats at award presentations. Talking about the same, he said:
“But the most embarrassing part is, I’ve had this sad little speech in my pocket for about four years, that I’ve never gotten a chance to read.”
After that, the actor attempted to rehearse his own acceptance speech. Nevertheless, when a fake award was presented, it went to SNL cast member Kenan Thompson, much like it did for Chalamet at most award events.
Nevertheless, Timothée Chalamet hasn't said anything about the show since then.
