American actor Armie Hammer posted a video on Instagram on Tuesday, August 27, where he revealed that he has shifted to Los Angeles. Hammer also shared that he had taken his much-loved truck on one final road trip to Carmax. While mentioning that he got a new apartment in LA, Hammer also explained that he got the black pickup in 2017 as a present to himself.
In the Instagram post, he said:
"I’ve been back in LA for a couple of weeks now. This is my truck. I bought this for myself in 2017 as a Christmas gift for myself, because I’ve had pickup trucks for a long time, and I have loved this truck intensely."
According to Armie Hammer, it had already been a few weeks since he was in Los Angeles. Shedding light on the reason behind the decision to sell the truck, Hammer revealed that he had already spent about $400-$500 for gas in LA and that he couldn't afford it any longer.
The actor continued to say, it was his birthday the very next day, and that he'd start a new life with a new car and new apartment. Netizens further shared their take on the video. Here are some of the online responses:
One user tweeted:
"Omg are actors this broke!"
"He should beg his rich family for forgiveness & get that inheritance money," added another tweet.
"He’s a freaking actor in hollywood and can’t afford gas…………….. bffr," commented another netizen.
Several other users too took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to comment on Armie's viral footage. One user pointed out the allegations against him and wrote:
"Bro got too many lawsuits to pay."
"if armie hammer can’t afford gas you know it’s bad," wrote another netizen.
"Dude just blew through his 65M he got from that Facebook lawsuit?" added another tweet.
What allegations had been made against the Death On The Nile actor Armie Hammer?
38-year-old Armie Hammer has been in the middle of controversies since 2020. This began with the announcement of divorce from his now former spouse Elizabeth Chambers. Chambers had released a statement through Instagram, where she wrote:
"Thirteen years as best friends, soulmates, partners and then parents. It has been an incredible journey, but together, we’ve decided to turn the page and move on from our marriage.”
In October 2020, he filed for joint custody, claiming that he had not met his kids after coming to LA since July that year. In January 2021, amid the separation chaos, an anonymous woman came out with allegations that she had been dating Hammer for about four years.
As reported by Vulture, the woman also claimed that during the time of their alleged relationship, the actor had sent her some violent and graphic messages containing themes of cannabalism and r*pe fantasies. A day after these allegations went viral, the actor voluntarily exited working for the movie Shotgun Wedding.
Armie Hammer further shed light on this decision, while talking to Variety at that time. He said:
"I’m not responding to these bullsh*t claims but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me, I cannot in good conscience now leave my children for 4 months to shoot a film in the Dominican Republic."
Shortly after that, app developer Courtney Vucekovich accused the actor of abusing her emotionally and s*xually, when she dated him for a few months in 2020. Meanwhile, several screenshots and photos went viral that included some graphic content and were further linked to Hammer, as reported by Vulture.
Paige Lorenze, another former girlfriend of Armie Hammer also agreed to the allegations made against him. She further accused the actor of assaulting her. She then told Page Six:
"I have gotten a DM saying Armie had sent me photos of me tied up that I didn’t know about."
An attorney representing Armie Hammer, however, claimed that the allegations made by Paige were untrue and that any interaction they had was consensual in nature. By the end of January 2021, he quit another movie named The Offer. Meanwhile, Chambers issued a statement mentioning that she was supporting all the survivors of Armie Hammer's alleged abuse.
Despite facing several different accusations, Hammer had denied all of it. In July, on an episode of Bill Maher’s podcast, Club Random, he revealed that cops had gone through all messages and information stored in his electronic devices and didn't find anything incriminating.
Amid the chaos surrounding the allegations, Hammer had also seemingly drained his finances and the recently posted video on Instagram might be a consequence of that.
