Jonathan Majors will be attending the upcoming Famous Monsters Festival on September 15, 2024, and his appearance is creating headlines for a specific reason. Notably, the actor will reportedly put his autographs on sale at $140 alongside pro-shot photographs at $160.
The event is scheduled to be held at the Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia. The fest will start on September 13, and Jonathan's appearance was confirmed through a promotional clip shared on the festival’s Instagram account, where the actor stated that he would be present there on the 14th and 15th.
The caption of the post reads:
"Jonathan Majors makes his first ever convention signing appearance! Kang, er… King of Prussia PA Sept 14th & 15th is your chance to meet the star of Loki, Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Creed III, Lovecraft Country and so much more! A limited amount of photo op and autograph presale tickets are on sale now."
The post requested anyone willing to attend the event to purchase tickets online on their official website, as limited tickets would be available at the door on a "first come-first serve basis."
However, the news of Jonathan Majors' appearance at the fest has grabbed a lot of attention from his fans due to the high charges, as they took to the comments section of an Instagram post by The Shade Room about the same.
One of them wrote:
"Them legal fees is adding up."
A few users refused to pay the amount Majors was charging for the autographs, commenting that they didn't want it. Meanwhile, a user added that his fans could support him, considering the actor was struggling with "fiscal challenges" due to his legal issues.
Jonathan Majors expresses regret after Marvel signs another actor as the villain
The Lompoc, California native was involved in a legal problem last year when he was convicted of third degree reckless assault and harassment by the New York jury. The charges were linked to an incident from March 2023, when he was arrested by police officers after finding his ex-partner Grace Jabbari unconscious with injuries.
Following his conviction, Jonathan Majors was dropped by Marvel Studios, and the same was confirmed by a spokesperson for the company, as per BBC. Majors portrayed Kang the Conqueror in MCU projects, starting from the Disney+ show Loki. He was also supposed to appear in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Back in July this year, Robert Downey Jr. was chosen to portray Doctor Doom, and the title of The Kang Dynasty was changed to Doomsday. The script of the movie was also changed, with assistance from Michael Waldron, the creator of Loki.
In an interview with TMZ in August this year, Jonathan Majors addressed the casting of Downey Jr. by saying:
"I think it's fair that Mr. Downey is being and has been greeted with patience and curiosity and love, and that Mr. Miller has gotten the same treatment and that they are being allowed to work their art and be creative at that level."
Majors added that he would like to play Kang some other time, if fans demand the same.
Meanwhile, Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars are scheduled to arrive in 2026 and 2027 respectively.
