Popular model Cara Delevingne sat down for an interview with The Sunday Times and spoke about her alcohol addiction and her sobriety journey. In an interview published on July 7, 2024, Cara Delevingne said:

"I used to think drugs and alcohol helped me cope. But they didn't. They kept me sad and super depressed."

She continued by stating how she has been sober since 2022 and said:

“I feel like I've got my power back and I'm not being controlled by other things... I finally feel as though I can be free."

Delevingne opened up about her addiction for the first time in 2023, during an interview with Vogue, where she stated how she wanted to get sober after an incident took place in 2022 when several pictures of the model were captured by the paparazzi at the Los Angeles Airport. At the time, she was spotted shoeless and received a lot of criticism for the same.

Cara Delevingne then checked into rehab in September 2022 and committed to a program that helped her get sober. The model and actress is most popular for her roles in The Face of an Angel, Pan, Suicide Squad, London Fields, Her Smell, Futurama, and American Horror Story: Delicate.

“What a crazy age to get drunk”— Cara Delevingne about getting drunk for first time at age of 8

In her interview with Sunday Times, Cara Delevingne also spoke at length about how she got into drinking and was intoxicated for the first time when she was just eight years old. Talking about how she got drunk at her aunt’s nuptials in 2001, Cara Delevingne recalled:

"I got drunk that day. I was 8. What a crazy age to get drunk. I woke up in my granny's house in my bedroom with a hangover in a bridesmaid's dress.”

Delevingne then spoke about how she likes AA meetings and goes to them whenever she can. She also stated how she has often met with comments from people who thought that she did not go to the meetings enough. Delevigne narrated:

“I'm doing it my way and it's working for me. Everyone's different. You can go in a million times and it doesn't work. Some people go in once and walk out. Some do it who don't need it."

As Cara opened up about her alcoholism, clips of her recent interview started floating on social media and garnered a lot of reactions from the masses. As most netizens applauded her for sharing her story, there were also a few who brought up previous instances that took place during her addiction days.
