Nicolas Cage recently got candid about his fear of the increasing use of artificial intelligence in Hollywood, hoping that his recent scans done for two projects wouldn't be used to recreate him once he's not around.

In a recent interview with The New Yorker, which went live on Monday, July 8, the actor was interrupted as he was scheduled for a scan. The actor noted that he's getting "two scans in one day," further saying:

"Well, they have to put me in a computer and match my eye color and change—I don't know. They're just going to steal my body and do whatever they want with it via digital AI... God, I hope not AI. I'm terrified of that. I've been vocal about it."

For the unversed, Nicolas Cage was referring to the scans for his upcoming series titled Spider-Man Noir. During the conversation, he reflected on the process of digitalizing his likeness. He said:

"[And] it makes me wonder, you know, where will the truth of the artists end up? Is it going to be replaced? Is it going to be transmogrified? Where's the heartbeat going to be?"

The Carpenter's Son actor also expressed his concerns about what the AI technology could do to his face and body once he's no longer here. He added:

"I mean, what are you going to do with my body and my face when I'm dead? I don't want you to do anything with it!"

Nicolas Cage talks about upcoming Spider-Man Noir series during the same interview

The Oscar-winning actor has several projects lined up for the coming years. He is set to portray the aging wall-crawler in the Spider-Man Noir live-action. It is an 8-episode series with writer Oren Uziel (22 Jump Street) and producer Steve Lightfoot (The Punisher), who will serve as the showrunners for the project.

In his recent interview, Nicolas Cage noted what he likes about the new project as he mentioned:

"I don't like violence. I don't want to play people who are hurting people. One of the things that I like about this potential show is that it's fantasy. It's not really people beating people up. Monsters are involved."

The Longlegs actor's "violence" comment is a reference to his forthcoming horror thriller film, Longlegs. He is set to portray the titular character, a merciless satanic serial killer who uses possessed dolls to haunt his victims.

In Marvel Comics, Nicolas Cage's Noir is an alternate version of Peter Parker, who first made an appearance in the Marvel Noir imprint in 2009. At 60, Cage will be the oldest actor to ever portray the live-action superhero.

With Spider-Man Noir only in its early development, Sony has not released any release window or date for the show yet. However, MGM+ and Prime Video have been confirmed to be the official streaming home of the series.
