Over 25 years after the iconic Titanic's release, Kate Winslet revealed a somewhat surprising fact about one of the most iconic scenes of the 1997 epic romantic film, specifically her kissing scene with Leonardo Dicaprio.

In a video with Vanity Fair, shared on their YouTube channel on Thursday, June 13, the Hollywood star sat down to rewatch some of the most iconic scenes from her classic works, including Titanic.

As the film's "I'm flying" scene rolled, Kate Winslet admired how good Dicaprio was in it. However, talking about locking lips with the actor during the scene, that actress said:

"It was not all it's cracked up to be."

Explaining the whole scene, Winslet mentioned that she had a lot of "pale makeup" on and while they were shooting the kissing scene, she had to do both their makeup checks in between takes. She added:

"I would end up looking as though I'd been sucking a caramel chocolate bar after each take because his makeup would come off on me."

While Winslet was dealing with tan smears on her face, her co-star would look like something was missing on his face due to the paler cosmetics. She called the entire thing "a mess," but that it wasn't even the most hectic part while filming the scene.

Recalling the time when she banged her knee on the railing several times which required them to do multiple reshoots, Kate Winslet admitted:

"This was a nightmare. Leo couldn't stop laughing, and we had to reshoot this about four times because [James Cameron] wanted a very specific light for this, obviously, and the sunset keeps changing where we are."

Disaster aside, the actress admitted that the whole scene with her and DiCaprio covered in each other's makeup was "quite funny".

"I do feel very proud of it" — Kate Winslet talks about Titanic

Talking about the film in general, Kate Winslet was admittedly proud of the impact of the movie, which remains one of the highest-grossing films of all time. She said:

"I do feel very proud of it, because I feel that it is that film that just keeps giving. Whole other generations of people are discovering the film or seeing it for the first time and there's something extraordinary about that."

Titanic also won 11 Oscars out of its 14 nominations, including Best Picture.

And with Titanic's popularity, especially the iconic "I'm flying" scene, it's not surprising for people to ask Kate Winslet to reenact the scene, which happens "every time [she's] on a flipping boat," Winslet said, "without fail."

When she was asked in the video if she indulges in those reenactment requests, the actress said that, sometimes, she does it.
