Michael Madsen applied for divorce from his wife DeAnna on September 18, 2024, due to irreconcilable differences. Notably, the duo split in January 2022 and lost one of their sons, Hudson, who died by suicide, while he was serving in the US Army in Hawaii.
On the other hand, Michael Madsen reportedly claimed in the legal documents that his relationship with DeAnna was abusive and toxic. Apart from this, he stated that Hudson died due to DeAnna's addiction to drinking and alcohol. He additionally requested a domestic violence restraining order against DeAnna.
Michael Madsen had previously expressed his grief over his son's demise in an interview with The Los Angeles Times in 2022. He told the outlet that he was in shock since Hudson died a few days after the duo spoke to each other through a text message. Madsen also stated:
"I didn't see any signs of depression. It's so tragic and sad. I'm just trying to make sense of everything and understand what happened. He had typical life challenges that people have with finances, but he wanted a family. He was looking towards his future, so it's mind blowing."
Hudson's death was first revealed to Metro by his family and a spokesperson for the Honolulu Medical Examiner told People magazine that he died of a gunshot wound to the head in a suspected suicide.
Michael Madsen was arrested in Malibu last month after a reported disagreement with DeAnna
The Kill Bill Vol. 1 star was arrested on August 17, 2024, on a charge of misdemeanor domestic battery. While he was released later, Madsen's representative spoke to Variety, saying that the legal issue reportedly emerged out of a disagreement with his wife DeAnna.
Speaking to TMZ, another representative stated that they were happy since Madsen was back home and they are waiting for
"more great things coming from this veteran and respected actor."
The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department shared a statement with People magazine, saying that they received a call from a female who allegedly claimed that she was pushed by her husband who also locked her outside the house. The department stated that an investigation was launched to find more details.
Michael Madsen's attorney later responded to the arrest in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, saying that the Scary Movie 4 star and DeAnna were having some problems with each other due to which the former told DeAnna to leave the house.
The attorney also claimed that his client was not involved in any kind of domestic violence. Furthermore, DeAnna also spoke to the outlet and addressed the legal issue by saying:
"Michael is struggling with his own personal issues. Myself and our children have been supporting him to the best of our ability. We would request privacy at this time."
Michael Madsen was previously married to Georganne LaPiere and Jeannine Bisignano and is a father of five more children. The 65-year-old has gained recognition over the years for his collaborations with director Quentin Tarantino in films like Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction.
