On July 16, Joey King posted a skincare video on TikTok with the caption, "Any tips for dermatitis would be greatly appreciated," in which she opened up about suffering from Perioral Dermatitis.

As per Cleveland Clinic, Perioral Dermatitis or POD is a skin condition where red rashes circle the mouth, making the skin scaly and flaky. It gives the skin an itchy and burning sensation. While the main cause of the condition is not clear, the condition can be a side effect of skin care products or toothpaste.

Joey King revealed she's been struggling with POD for the last seven months.

"I'm trying to stop my prescription stuff to make it go away on its own. I just stopped it like a week ago, I started using my other skincare, and you can't really see it right now, but it's like coming back. And I have literally no idea what to do about it."

The Kissing Booth star's audience was quick to offer advice and suggestions.

Hailey Bieber has also opened up about having perioral dermatitis

Perioral Dermatitis is a skin condition where face rashes appear in bumps around the mouth. While doctors don't know the exact cause of the condition, corticosteroid skin medications, infections, toothpaste containing fluoride, some cosmetics, and sunscreens have been believed to be some causes.

A fan commented on Joey King's TikTok post suggesting the actress use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer, avoid trigger ingredients, and consult a dermatologist. Joey replied, revealing that she had switched to Vanicream before seeing a dermatologist. She then was prescribed topical prescriptions, and they worked great. However, after she was told to stop them, they came back again.

Joey King is not the only one suffering from perioral dermatitis. Hailey Bieber, in a December 2023 TikTok video, opened up about struggling with perioral dermatitis, describing the condition as "acne or rosacea."

"This is something that I have had since I was about 19 or 20. And I know a lot of other people deal with it and struggle with it as well. I'm having a pretty bad flare up right now so I wanted to share what I use when I'm having a flare up."

The Rhode owner then shared she uses a prescription Azelaic Acid Cream and Rhode's Glazing milk which she described as "super gentle" and "helps calm the skin."

In a February 2020 interview with Refinery29, Bieber shared she doesn't know what triggers her POD and can't prevent it. Since Hailey is also a model, applying new makeup on set has also given her rashes under her eyes.
