Actor Bug Hall, married to Jill Marie DeGroff, prompted severe backlash from netizens on September 17 for allegedly referring to his daughters as "dishwashers". The 39-year-old announced the birth of his fifth baby — a son named Mark Athanasius Chad Anthony Hall-Barnett on Tuesday, September 17.
Bug added both the mother and the baby were well. However, his prelude to the post sparked questions as he wrote:
"I have an heir!"
An X user @KylieD87 called Bug out for the statement and pointed out he already has daughters, to which, the actor responded:
"I said heir, not dishwasher."
Bug's remark about his daughters soon earned him stern criticism from netizens.
"This man has 4 daughters by the way. But good luck building an empire with your “heir”!", commented one X user.
"With opinions like this, I hope CPS shows up soon", one person wrote.
"i pray god protects those precious little girls from your toxicity and projected self-loathing until they're old enough to disown you. get your heart right or end up in hell bro", commented another.
"and what is he the heir to? 10 cent little rascal residuals?", mocked one X user.
Some accused Bug of being abusive and slammed his seemingly misogynistic notions.
"Never been so sure someone beats their wife in my entire life", said one person.
Bug responded to several comments, revealing more supposed details about his views and his children. In response to one such tweet that hoped his son would be gay when grown up, the actor wrote his children do not attend school, reasoning there is no scope for them to be homosexual.
Bug also added in the tweet, "Mama and baby are both doing great. My bride's fifth delivery, third all natural." A few others also questioned Bug addressing Jill as his "bride" and not "wife".
"She’s your bride on your wedding day, after that she’s your wife. Use words correctly", said one.
Following the criticism online, Bug Hall doubled down on his remarks and made another post on September 20 calling his daughters "dishwashers" again with a religious note.
"Alright this was some wild fun. The dishwashers are making a ruckus."
Bug Hall's shift from Alfalfa's sweetness to self-proclaimed extremism
Playing the persistent yet sweet kid Alfalfa in the 1994 children's comedy The Little Rascals earned Bug Hall massive admiration from viewers. His heartfelt rendition of Billy Preston and Bruce Fisher's iconic You Are So Beautiful as he serenaded Darla on the boat scene won everyone's heart.
Despite being a member of the 'He-Man Woman-Haters Club', Alfalfa told Darla he was not like the other members but rather a "sensitive male" who is "into sharing, caring, feeling, and healing". However, the stark difference between Alfalfa's wholesome nature and the actor Bug Hall's personality is staggering.
Bug’s radical extremist views are quite evident in his social media posts. In an Instagram post from October 17, 2023, he glorified "sainthood" with the caption that read: "Radical. Christian. Extremist."
In another post from November 2, 2023, Bug Hall wrote he was not "pro-life" but he was against abortion, adding:
"Capital punishment for ALL abortionists [including mothers]."
His Instagram feed is replete with extremist religious and right-wing-leaning political posts. The actor now reportedly dwells in poverty after departing from Hollywood.
Bug Hall also had a run-in with law enforcement in 2020 as he was arrested for huffing air duster. He was booked to Weatherford's Parker County Jail in Texas on a $1,500 bond. The actor was released the next day after paying the bail money.
