Daniel Selznick, a Hollywood producer and executive, passed away on Thursday, August 1, at the age of 88. His parents were the renowned producers David O. Selznick and Irene Mayer Selznick.
Fox News Digital reported that Selznick passed away from natural causes at the retirement complex caleld Motion Picture Country Home in Woodland Hills, California, where he had been staying for a long time.
The same source was informed by a representative of the MPTF that they will remember Daniel for his "intelligence, charm, sweetness, and generosity."
Daniel Selznick was born in Los Angeles, California, USA, on May 18, 1936. His credits as a producer and director include Blood Feud (1983), Targets (1968), and Hoover vs. the Kennedys: The Second Civil War (1987).

The last living relative of one of Hollywood's original families, producer Daniel Selznick, passed away on Thursday. Selznick grew up in Beverly Hills. He was the younger of two sons of theater producer Irene Mayer Selznick and producer David O. Selznick.
Numerous classic movies, such as 1933's King Kong, 1946's Duel in the Sun, and 1939's Gone With the Wind, were produced by his father. His mother, the late Louis B. Mayer's daughter, was nominated for a Tony Award in 1956 for her play The Chalk Garden.
Additionally, Daniel's grandfather was the Canadian immigrant Louis B. Mayer, who alongside his first wife Margaret Shenberg Mayer co-founded Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, aka MGM in April 1924 in Beverly Hills, California.
Selznick attended Harvard University and grew up in Beverly Hills. In addition, he completed his PhD studies at Brandeis University and attended the University of Geneva.
When Daniel Selznick was a teenager, his parents split and then his father remarried the Academy Award–winning actress Jennifer Jones.
Following in the footsteps of his well-known family, Selznick started a career in the entertainment sector. After working for Universal Studios as a production executive for four years, he and his late older brother Jeffrey Selznick produced the documentary The Making of a Legend: 'Gone with the Wind' in 1988.
Daniel Selznick's production credits as a producer include the Mike Newell-directed 1983 TV drama Blood Feud, which starred Robert Blake as Jimmy Hoffa and Cotter Smith as Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy.
In addition, he also produced the 1981 docu-drama Reagan's Way: Pathway to the Presidency, the 1977 TV movie thriller Night Drive, starring Valerie Harper, and the 1987 miniseries Hoover vs. The Kennedys: The Second Civil War, starring Robert Pine as John F. Kennedy and Nicholas Campbell as Robert F. Kennedy.
Moreover, he was a prosperous theater producer, having produced such plays as The Man with the Perfect Wife, which starred Academy Award–winning actress Jennifer Jones as his stepmother. Selznick was also the longstanding director of the Louis B. Mayer Foundation.
Selznick was writing a memoir about his experiences in Hollywood while residing at the Motion Picture Country Home. It is called Walking With Kings and will reportedly be released by Alfred Knopf next year.
Moreover, as per Variety, the MPTF addressed his demise and stated:
“Residents and staff of the Motion Picture & Television Fund will remember him for his intelligence, charm, sweetness, and generosity.”
Variety reported that according to his obituary Selznick was married three times but he does not have any living relatives. Furthermore, following this incident, his family members didn’t say anything about the tragic event.
