Voice actor David Graham passed away at 99 on Friday, September 20, 2024. He was known for voicing Grandpa Pig on Peppa Pig from 2004 to 2021 and the villain Daleks, on Doctor Who. He also voiced the character Aloysius Parker on the 1960s series Thunderbirds as well as its sequel films. His voice acting career has spanned decades and genres.

Gerry Anderson of Anderson Entertainment, the creators of Thunderbirds, confirmed the news of David Graham's passing with a tribute on social media. He expressed grief at having to confirm the voice actor's passing before adding that he was "always a wonderful friend" to everyone at Anderson Entertainment. Gerry noted that they would miss Graham "dearly," as he recalled all the iconic roles the actor had played.

David Graham was born in an Orthodox Jewish family in 1925 in London. He moved to New York after his sister got married and moved there. Graham then joined the Neighbourhood Playhouse School of the Theatre, after which, he began his career in theatre.

David Graham was as passionate about voicing Peppa Pig's Grandpa Pig as he was about Doctor Who's villain

David Graham was popular for having voiced several characters across movies and TV shows. His first voiceover was as Grandpa Twink in Four Feather Falls, followed by Dr. Beaker Zarin in Supercar.

As his popularity rose, he began getting more opportunities, including voicing Daleks in Doctor Who and lending his voice to the Mechanoids. In Thunderbirds, he voiced multiple characters over the years, including Gordon Tracy, Aloysius Parker, and Kyrano.

However, David Graham wasn't just popular with an older fanbase, he also had a huge fanbase among children after he voiced Grandpa Pig in Peppa Pig. He was married to Granny Pig and was Mummy Pig and Aunt Dottie's father. Peppa's younger brother, George, often called him "Papa Ig."

David was extremely passionate about voicing for Peppa Pig and often discussed it in interviews. He told Mirror Magazine in a 2015 interview that he took it as seriously as "working at the National Theatre."

"Just because it’s a cartoon or puppet doesn’t mean you don’t take it seriously. I take it as seriously as working at the National Theatre,” the actor said.

Besides doing voiceovers, Graham was also an actor who worked in several films. These include Crossroads to Crime, K.I.L. 1, Freelance, King David, Stowaways on the Ark, Back in Ten, and The End. He was also a part of multiple TV shows like The Avengers, The Saint, Stingray, Supercar, and When the Boat Comes In.

Following his passing, Graham's family has yet to make a statement and hasn't revealed the cause of his death. Fans are awaiting details and information about Graham's funeral and memorial services.
