Who are John Amos' kids? Actor's daughter Shannon Amos reveals she learned about her father's death through media

Late actor John Amos' daughter Shannon Amos recently revealed that she got to know about her father's demise through the media. Shannon shared a post on her official Instagram feed with a caption where she wrote that the family had no idea that Amos had passed away on August 21, 2024.

The caption further read:

"We are devastated and left with many questions about how this happened 45 days ago, learning about it through the media like so many of you. This should be a time of honoring and celebrating his life, yet we are struggling to navigate the wave of emotions..."

Shannon further expressed gratitude to everybody for the good wishes the family received after the news broke. On October 1, John Amos' son K.C. Amos revealed the news about his demise. According to K.C., the 84-year-old actor died of natural causes.

John has left behind his two children- K.C. and Shannon. Born in New Jersey, Shannon had been exposed to Hollywood at a very young age given the background of her father. She'd often visit the sets of films and sitcoms like Good Times and Coming To America.

As per IMDb, it was her father who pushed her to understand the business side of the industry. She later got a job as a segment producer for the series America's Most Wanted. K.C, John Amos' son, born in 1970, is a director, actor, producer, as well as a writer. In 1995, K.C. wrote, directed, and produced a short film named Syphon Gun. Then in 2004, he worked in The Watermelon Heist, alongside his sister Shannon and late father.

John Amos' daughter Shannon had previously accused her brother K.C. of elder abuse

In November 2023, The Hollywood Reporter published an article which primarily talked about the issues going on within the late actor's family. The main issue was reportedly between Shannon and K.C., where the former accused the latter of financial exploitation as well as elder abuse.

K.C. had, however, denied the claims made by his sister regarding their father. In July 2023, as per police reports, K.C. even went to jail after Shannon claimed that he had sent her "terroristic" messages and made her believe that she was in danger.

According to the November publication, John Amos had expressed his dislike towards how the family issues were getting out on public forums. He had once said:

"Whatever we’re going through is our business, not the business of the public."

Shannon had further accused K.C. of impersonating the late actor in several communications and mishandling his finances too. All these allegations have been denied by K.C. Amos.

Shannon had previously described her father to be quite strict in nature, but funny too. In 2021, she told AmoMama,

"He was always strict, but he was also very funny and super adventurous. As a child, I just saw what he did as a job, but as I got older, I began to see how many lives he impacted through his role as a strong Black man and father."

The father-daughter relationship, however, became turbulent after they had issues with the medical care that the late actor was receiving then. Despite the differences, Shannon had seemingly spoken highly of her father.

John Amos passed away on August 21, 2024. In a statement given to CNN by K.C. on Tuesday, announcing John Amos' death, K.C. described his father as "a man with the kindest heart and a heart of gold."
