Pam Grier sang praises for Snoop Dogg, her co-star in the 2001 horror flick Bones, directed by Ernest R. Dickerson. Appearing on an episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show scheduled to air on May 30, 2024, Pam Grier gushed about Snoop Dogg's kissing skills, saying:
“Oh my God, and he can smooch! Let me tell ya, let me tell ya.”
Bones tells the story of Jimmy Bones, a numbers runner played by Snoop Dogg, who comes back as a ghost two decades after his death to seek revenge on his murderers. Pam Grier played Pearl, Jimmy's girlfriend and the mother of his child.
In a 2001 interview with The Oklahoman, Pam Grier called Bones a "good, old-fashioned horror/revenge movie," adding:
"As Pearl, I knew Jimmy would come back someday. I never stopped loving him."
The premise of Bones and Pam Grier's character detailed
According to Horror Wiki, the movie opens with Jimmy being betrayed and murdered by his associates in 1979. Pearl, who is also at the scene of the crime, is asked to take part in the murder. She refuses and tries to kill herself, but is stopped. Jimmy's body is laid to rest in his brownstone house.
22 years later, the neighborhood is overrun with drugs without Jimmy around to control the flow. Pearl, who gives psychic readings in the neighborhood, is also the mother of Cynthia, Jimmy's daughter.
Four teens decide to buy Jimmy's house and turn it into a nightclub, awakening Jimmy's spirit in the process. What follows is a cat-and-mouse chase of Jimmy hunting down his murderers and successfully killing them.
Pearl, who realizes that Jimmy's spirit is out for blood, says that the only way to stop him is to burn the dress she was wearing at the time of his death, as the dress contained his blood. She sets herself on fire while wearing the dress, ultimately killing herself and Jimmy's spirit.
However, a surprise twist at the end reveals that Jimmy's spirit is now possessing his daughter, Cynthia, as she shares his blood.
Snoop Dogg fainted while meeting Pam Grier for the first time
When Snoop Dogg appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show on January 26, 2024, he recalled being starstruck and feeling faint after meeting Pam Grier for the first time.
“Pam Grier walked up and just sat right next to me and started talking. My heart beat fast, yeah, my heart beat fast. So I'm like, ‘Okay, I hear what you're saying. Pam, give me a minute.' I go to the bathroom and faint. I fainted, I’m laying on the ground," the rapper said.
Grier also mentioned this incident when she appeared on Watch What Happens Live on April 17, 2024. Speaking to host Andy Cohen, she recalled the rapper excusing himself to go to the men's room and, moments later, security rushing in to help him up and clean him off.
The 75-year-old actress revealed she was upset that she had such an effect on him, calling Snoop a "lovely person." She also added that the rapper told her that she inspired him and made him want to be a better actor and person.
