The Shining star Shelley Duvall passed away on Thursday, July 11, in Blanco. The actress got married to artist Bernard Sampson in 1970. The relationship, however, didn't last and ended in 1974. At the time of her death, Duvall was in a relationship with vocalist Dan Gilroy. The couple began dating in 1989 and have been together since.

The Hollywood Reporter said that after the actress' death, Dan Gilroy told the outlet,

"My dear, sweet, wonderful life partner and friend left us. Too much suffering lately, now, she's free. Fly away, beautiful Shelley."

Before beginning the relationship with Sampson, Duvall was dating songwriter Paul Simon, and the relationship lasted for about two years.

Breakfast Club lead singer Dan Gilroy had been the last partner that the late Shelley Duvall was with until her death at 75. Born in May 1947, Gilroy formed the band back in 1979 in New York City when Madonna so became a part of it. The Queen of Pop also promoted the band a lot initially.

Later, the band consisted of two people - Dan and his brother Ed. Then, Gary Burke also became a part of the band as the bassist. They released one of their most successful songs, Right on Track, in 1987, which made it to the US Billboard Hot 100 in seventh rank.

In 1989, the lead vocalist began a romantic relationship with actress Shelley Duval, and the bond continued until her recent death. They lived together in Texas all this while, and the couple also co-starred in the 1990 Disney movie Mother Goose Rock 'n' Rhyme. In 1994, he worked in the TV series Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle.

The Guardian reported that the popular actress died in her sleep, with several complications from being diabetic. Duval had worked in several films, including Nashville, McCabe & Mrs. Miller, and Thieves Like Us. She was known for working with director Robert Altman on several projects. She first met Altman in 1970 while he was shooting for his film Brewster McCloud in Texas, which also became her first movie.

In an interview with The New York Times, in 1977, Shelley Duvall explained why she worked with Altman for so long.

"He offers me damn good roles. None of them have been alike. He has a great confidence in menand a trust and respect for me, and he doesn't put any restrictions on me or intimidate me, and I love him," said Duvall.

Duvall had been chosen as a nominee for several awards over the years, including two Emmys and a British Academy Film Award. The last movie Shelley Duvall acted in is the 2023 film The Forest Hills. Over the years, the actress has also appeared in several TV series, including Booker, Baretta, The Ray Bradbury Theater, LA Law, Adventures From The Book Of Virtues, and many more.

Several fans have expressed condolences over the recent death of the very talented American actress.
