Who is Tefi Pessoa? Content creator addresses Ana de Armas' alleged romance with Cuban President's stepson

Internet personality Tefi Pessoa recently called out Ana de Armas after she was photographed with the Cuban president's stepson in Madrid, Spain, on Thursday, November 21, 2024. Pessoa took to her TikTok, @hellotefi, to slam the actress, saying:

"Ana de Armas, in Madrid, kissing that man (translated from Spanish), the stepson of a dictator, is a slap in the face of the community that supports her, not even the Latin community, but her Cuban community."

Tefi's comments come after Ana de Armas was spotted in Spain with Manuel Anido Cuesta, the stepson of the President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez. The pair were seen walking together before stopping to share a kiss.

While criticizing the actress, Tefi Pessoa also noted the circumstances and the plight of Cuban citizens, stating:

"No one in their right f**king mind swims at the dead of night, risking death, 90 miles to a town where they may or may not have work, family, support, (and) comunity, because what they were leaving was so f**king great."

She added that despite the "crisis," Cuesta's stepfather does not care for his people.

Pessoa is a Miami-born internet personality who rose to fame by hosting her eponymous YouTube show, Tefi. The show features the 34-year-old sharing her views on celebrities, fashion, and pop culture.

Tefi Pessoa (real name Estefania Vanegas Pessoa) was born to a Colombian mother and Brazilian father on July 22, 1990, in Miami, Florida. She has two siblings, Laura and Esteban.

According to her essay on Medium (December 2022), Tefi grew up in Miami, moving to Bogota, Colombia, when she turned 22. She eventually moved to New York in the fall of 2012.

The 34-year-old's journey as a content creator began in October 2019 when she launched her namesake pop culture channel on YouTube, Tefi Show. The episodes saw the personality commenting on celebrities, trends, and fashion. Her debut episode centered around Mariah Carey, Rihanna, and Helena Bonham Carter.

In 2020, Pessoa had to put her channel on pause during the COVID-19 pandemic. This prompted her to turn to TikTok.
