Why was Silvia Pinal in the hospital? Star from Mexico's Golden Age passes away at 93

Silvia Pinal, the popular Mexcian actress, has passed away at 93. Her death was confirmed by Mexico’s Culture Secretary, Claudia Curiel de Icaza, but no cause of her demise was revealed. On the other hand, it is worth noting that Silvia Pinal spent her last few days in the hospital, as ABC News reported that she had been diagnosed with a urinary tract infection.

Hola Magazine also reported that at the time of passing away, Silvia Pinal was in Mexico City, surrounded by her family and close friends. Her daughter, Silvia Pasquel paid her tribute to her mother on social media, stating:

"Your absence will always hurt me, but every memory of you will give me the strength to move forward. As long as you live in my heart, I will always feel that you are still with me. I will love you forever, Mom. Rest in peace, Silvia Pinal."

Born in Guaymas, Sonora, Silvia Pinal started her career in films with the movie, Bamba. She then appeared in other popular hits like El Portero, La Marca Del Zorrillo, Una Gallega Baila Mambo, Un Rincon Cerca Del Cielo, Ahora Soy Rico, Dona Mariquita De Mi Corazon, La Dulce Enemiga, Charleston, Divinas Palabras, and many more.

Her last commercial hit was Ya no los hacen como antes in 2003, after which she did only a few voice roles in Arrietty and La Tercera Ilamada.

Silvia Pinal was admitted to the hospital on November 22, 2024

Silvia Pinal was rushed to the emergency on November 22, 2024. Later, on November 27, 2024, her son, Luis Enrique Guzmán, annouced that her condition was critical. He said:

“Yes, my mother is in critical condition and a lung collapsed, but she is now very calm with sedation. We are waiting to see what happens.”

Furthermore, Mexican journalist, Maxine Woodside also announced a day before her passing, that Silvia was in a coma. He said in his broadcast:

“She is in a coma. They say she woke up for a moment, raised her hand and waved it, as if saying goodbye. They stayed in the hospital waiting; Mrs. Silvia is really in serious condition.”

The Mexican superstar has had a long history of illnesses, as El Financiero stated in their report that her medical condition started deteriorating ever since she was infected with COVID-19 in December 2021.

At the time, she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, and recovered in January 2022, however, she was in a wheelchair.

She also suffered from a urinary tract infection in May 2022 and later had influenza in December, and pneumonia the following year. Furthermore, in February and March of this year, Silvia Pinal was once again admitted to the hospital for sores on her back.

While the fans of the Mexcian actress continue to mourn her death, the family is yet to reveal more details about her funeral and memorial services.

Silvia, who was married four times, is now survived by her kids, Sylvia Pasquel, Alejandra Guzmán, and Luis Enrique Guzmán, and her grandkids, Stephanie, Frida Sofía, Giordana, Schersa, Michelle Salas and Camila Valero.
