After losing his job, Teddy learns from his best friend Marvin that he needs a GED to secure a job in a financial investment firm, thus joining the night school, and there begins his new journey.

Tiffany Haddish as Carrie Carter

Tiffany Haddish plays Carrie Carter, a strict, no-nonsense GED instructor carrying a tough demeanor. Despite her stern exterior, Carrie is a caring teacher who wants to help her students achieve good scores. Despite Teddy’s tantrums and his shortcomings, she gives her all to help him succeed and prove that he is indeed capable of anything he wants.

Rob Riggle as Mackenzie

Rob Riggle plays Mackenzie, an upbeat, bumbling, and reckless security guard whose ideas often put the group in trouble. Mackenzie’s character adds comedic relief with his clueless brawn-over-brain antics. Though he appears clueless most of the time, Mackenzie indeed plays an important role by contributing to the film’s humor and light-heartedness.

Romany Malco as Jaylen

Romany Malco plays Jaylen, a quick-witted student who stands out with his confident demeanor. Jaylen was fired from a factory and was replaced by a robot, which left him utterly outraged. Nevertheless, he keeps calm, balancing his ambition with a fun-loving attitude. He is among the most reliable people in the Night School group.

Taran Killam as Stewart

Taran Killam plays the school principal, Stewart, who was once Teddy’s batchmate in their school days and was often bullied by the latter. Although Stewart doesn’t like to show his harbored grudge against Teddy upfront, he doesn’t like him and wants him to fail his GED test.

Megalyn Echikunwoke as Lisa King

Megalyn Echikunwoke plays Teddy’s girlfriend, Lisa King, a wealthy and successful woman in the financial sector who loves her boyfriend and doesn’t let any of his flaws come in between their relationship. Lisa accepts Teddy as he is, but her heart gets broken when she finds out that her boyfriend is secretly taking Night School.

Al Madrigal as Luis

Al Madrigal plays Luis, a waiter who gets fired from a restaurant due to Teddy and becomes jobless. Like their fates have been intertwined, Luis also ends up in the night school beside Teddy. He also manages to get a job as a taxi driver.
