Scream 7 has officially started its production and filming. Recently, on January 8, 2025, director Kevin Williamson took to his Instagram to share the first logo of the film and to reveal that day one of the upcoming slasher film is in the books. The logo for the upcoming film reveals that the classic font of the franchise will be back, and it will be accompanied by the number seven and a blood splatter as well.
However, the reaction to the first logo for Scream 7 has been overwhelmingly negative. The movie has already been under a very controversial eye among the public.
After actress Melissa Barrera was fired from the production for sharing pro-Palestine posts, and with actress Jenna Ortega leaving the cast as well, many fans don't see a point in the film.
Many fans are also choosing to support actress Melissa Barrera by calling for boycotts for the film as well. Here are some of the reactions that were seen online on X.
"Since jenna and melissa left, i can assure you genuinely no one gives a sh**," said a fan on X.
"Supporting this project means condoning a culture that silences truth and punishes activism. Do not support 'SCREAM 7'," said another fan.
"What was once a very respected horror franchise has now turned into a symbol of silencing artists for speaking out against a very important issue. I’m so f*****g tired," expressed another fan.
"I am really excited for this because I love Scream to death, but the firing of Melissa Barrera and the subsequent departure of Jenny Ortega make it hard to be happy that this exists," said another fan.
The support for actress Melissa Barrera was a common factor among those who were disappointed to see Scream 7 moving ahead. Many even wished that the film itself wasn't being made and they did condemn the actions of studios Spyglass and Paramount Pictures who were producing the film.
"Absolutely ashamed that a series I once held very close to my heart has been tarnished by scummy producers and that the original star and creator are on the front lines defending such scum. pathetic all around, hope this flops," shared another fan.
"The '7' in the title stands for the amount of dollars it will make at the box office," joked another fan.
"I am generally not a fan of Scream. The last 2 films felt fresh and got me back into the series. I feel nothing seeing this movie chug along. Will not be watching, or even thinking about if," expressed another fan.
