Novocaine, an upcoming action thriller, is scheduled to hit theaters in the United States on March 14, 2025. Dan Berk and Robert Olsen will direct the film. Lars Jacobson wrote the script. Joby Harold, Tory Tunnell, and Drew Simon, among others, are the producers for this Paramount project.
The is centered around Nathan Caine, an average guy with a rare disorder, congenital insensitivity to pain, who must rescue his girlfriend who has been taken hostage in a bank robbery.
Paramount Pictures posted the trailer for Novocaine on their YouTube channel on December 13. The film features an impressive cast, including Jack Quaid and Amber Midthunder, among others.
Novocaine: Everything we know so far
The trailer for Novocaine was released on December 12, 2024, and has received get great reception from fans worldwide.
The trailer depicts Jack Quaid as a normal person who does not experience physical pain. In the trailer, he is seen inflicting pain on himself, in various ways, yet he is unharmed. In the trailer, he fights villains and uses his disorder as a superpower to protect himself and save his girlfriend. The two-minute, 28-second long clip depicts him as an invincible superhero in the form of a human.
Where to watch Novocaine?
The film will be released exclusively in theaters beginning March 14, 2025. Paramount acquired this picture in February 2024 and will distribute it. While there is no word on an OTT release date as of yet, because the picture is being handled by Paramount Pictures, it could land on Paramount Plus weeks after its theatrical debut.
Novocaine: Cast
The film stars Jack Quaid in the lead role of Nathan Caine or the titular character Novocaine, a sheltered bank executive, who feels no pain. Quaid has previously been a part of several movies and shows like Scream (2022), Oppenheimer (2023), The Boys (2019-present ) and more. The Boys fans are familiar with Quaid as he plays the role of Hughie Campbell in the superhero drama.
Fans of The Boys will have to wait for the fifth season, which is currently being filmed. However, they can witness their favorite Hughie in his role as Nathan in 2025.
Other than Quaid, Jacob Balton is also a part of the cast. Balton has previously starred in several movies and shows. He is popular for his role as Reginald in Reginald the Vampire (2022-2024). He has also starred in several MCU movies like Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), and more.
Alongside Quaid and Jacob Balton, other notable names in the cast include Ray Nicholson, Amber Midthunder, Matt Walsh, Betty Gabriel, Dominique Maher, and Evan Hengst among others.
Plot Summary
Novocaine's plot revolves around Nathan Caine, an introvert with a rare genetic disorder that gives him superpowers. He does not experience physical pain as a result of this disease. When his love interest is kidnapped, he uses his aforementioned ability to get her back.
The synopsis of the film as per IMDb reads as:
"A mild-mannered introvert man is born with a rare genetic disorder that makes him impervious to physical pain. When his new beau is taken hostage in a bank robbery, his affliction becomes his superpower."
When asked by Cinema Blend about the character of Quaid and how much pain is too much for him, directors Dan Berk and Robert Olsen responded:
"We had to keep a log of all the damage he was taking, and make sure that it all landed within the realm of believability, and that we were never going so far that you wouldn't believe that he could be physically alive after taking all of that damage..."
